Timo beat Joao Monteiro 4-3
Timo Boll was not playing well at all, very slow and tiered.
Injury maybe?

If I remember correctly, Pitchford has beaten Harimoto on more than one occasion.
I know once was in team world cup in UK.
I can't remember if HT has ever beaten Pitchford.

I guess HT is done, no opposition replies so far

Japan Miu Hirano vs Ding Ning China

Can Hirano pull the upset ? Her last match was the best focus and reflexes I have seen from her lately !

I think Hirano is more than capable of beating DN. She's clearly faster and stronger than DN. Her technique is also very good. The main hurdle for Hirano to overcome is herself. She needs to be mentally stronger.

To be honest, DN's age is showing. She seems slow and her shots are weak compared to other top tier female players.
I'm surprised at how well she's been playing despite her weaknesses. This is testament to DN's experience at reading opponents so she could win via blocking and placement over speed and power.

They've played twice at team events, both times 3-0 to pitchford

favourite in your view or per ranking? you will agree the later is meaningless
By every measure except prior head to head. Calderano, Liang Jingkun and Lin Gaoyuan all know what it is like to have beaten Harimoto.

Harimoto by any measure is a legit top 10 player. Pitchford by any measure other than a subjective eye test which I can grant some plausibility is not. Their games matchup well but I still go with Harimoto.

So far two easy wins for Liam So for me he is the favourite one but of course harimoto grows up and can cause surprise for me. I cannot wait for Bh-BH rallies

Well as Thom said, we will wait and see. I think that BH to BH exchanges may doom Harimoto, he isn't more powerful than Pitchford and Pitchford redirects really well. But Harimoto is getting older and 6 months in the life of a 16 year old is a lot and it has been over a year since those matches.

That is True but is also year passed since harimoto had biggest achievments. From that Time he was beaten many times. I would Say 60:40 for Liam

No, Harimoto won the grand finals on December last year which took his world ranking to 4th. This is easily over half a year since his losses to Pitchford. If we look at who Harimoto has lost to this year, other than An depending on how you view him, nothing to be ashamed of. And in the Last one year who are the people who have beaten Harimoto many times? Not the 2018 but the last one year?

Koki Niwa, Ma Long, Fan Zhendong, Mattias Falck, An Jaehyun. Most of his losses are from early 2018.

Pitchford has played far worse in the same period. But Pitchford has great days so I will not count him out.

I've noticed that Pitchford performs better against top tier players, especially CNT or JNT.
Zhou Qihao is not a bad play at all. He beat Jonathan Groth and Kristian Karlsson in prelim.
Zhou should not have lost 0-4 to Pitchford, unless LP was super fired up.
If LP can keep the same intensity, he stands a good chance at upsetting the ranking against HT.
That said, HT has improved his power and consistency in the past year, so this is a good match to test both players.
