They need to make sure that neither color causes trouble with either white, orange or the upcoming yellow balls, and normally table colours also.

Whatever background or floors in the halls is a different thing, but that will be more of a personal than a general problem.
that would make sense, but check out the colors in the video, some seem too light, e.g. the pastel purple? one in the beginning held by Dan in his left hand

Yes. For now, the idea of "bright" colours and one side black has been approved.
In the statements to that they also said that the actual colours are yet to be defined.
There are also pictures of a whole palette of colours, some impossible from the start (dark blue for example).
So I think over time there´ll be acceptable versions - but I don´t think the samples in the video are of the final approved colours.
