On a side note, how long does a thick layer last?

I feel I put too thick of a layer on my blade, so I’m not sure if I should try to lightly sand or wait it out.

always seal it ..even if light and then slightly brush it with sand paper.. . you have to be a good player to feel the difference . i know one guy who bought some kind of expensive timo boll blade and was not satisfied with the speed they present and they used to be .. so he applied a thin layer of epoxy to get it faster ... because sealing did not do the effect for him .. and he plays really good .
so do not be worry about it ... always seal ...

Sealant does not wear off. I would actually use solvent and take the sealant off. Then reseal after the old layer is off.
