The time has come for Hayata and LSW to prove their own worth for Tokyo 2020.

Hayata was slow to start in game 1.

Game 2, 7:3, 8:4, 10:6, 10:10, 11:10, 11:11, 11:12, 12:12, 12:13, 13:13, TO for Hayata...13:14, 14:14, 15:14, 16:14. Very crucial game.

Game 3, it's clear by now LSW has trouble with Hayata's shovel backspin serve. Both are losing more on their service. It's a battle of receiving. 11:7 to LSW.

Game 4, 4:1, 4:3, 5:3, 5:6, 8:6, 8:8, 11:8 to Hayata. 2 games each. A roller-coaster ride!

Game 5, 0:3, 1:3, 1:7, 2:7, 2:8, 3:8, 3:9, 4:9, 5:9, 5:10, 6:10, 6:11. Hayata blacked out as usual, in the same manner as Ito and Hirano.

Game 6, 0:2, 1:2, 1:5, 2:5, 2:8, 3:8, TO for LSW...3:9, 4:9, 4:10, 5:10, 5:11. Hard-earned revenge for LSW.

Old news but I guess this counts as a big upset. Although Manika is facing Wang Manyu in the current round.

HAYATA lost 2-4. I don't know what changed after 2-2. but LSW suddenly was more in control. After all she's the WC.
Still a great performance and really great shots even at the end of the match from HAYATA. My feeling is still the same as above. She has all the shots but not the consistency. She can outplay the very very best for a while but for a whole match its still difficult. But I believe she can work this out and this kind of tournament (she still won 2 young CNT members) can definitely build her some confidence and some hope

It's consistency that separates the good from the great. That's where the extra practice sessions get apparent.

In any case, Hayata played very well ....

In the post-match interview (which zeio will probably sub), LSW acknowledged that Hayata's overall ability is not beneath Ito and Kasumi even though she is ranked much lower down the ladder. The young Japanese player is said to be very aggressive and possesses an advanced set of techniques.

Good for Karlsson and Freitas.
I didn't like Hayata at all, sorry.
Mizutani and Niwa not in shape.

Hayata was not consistent enough for the WC, but she played some insane rallies imo.
I am super impressed with her. I really hope she will play at the Olympics.
