Does that mean Xu Xin has earned a men's single ticket in the Tokyo Olympic?

Simple answer is no.

The Asian Championship is a team qualification event for 2020 Tokyo Olympics, meaning the winners in the Men's Team and Women's Team shall qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Team Events.

And each team event qualifier will automatically qualify 2 spots for the Men’s Single and Women’s Single respectively. But it will be up to the national team/association to decide who to play.

FZD looks increasingly ordinary when playing against top quality opponents. No special trick up his sleeve to get out of tough situation. Same game play for all seasons. Even his normal power game is not effective because he misses so many of his bread and butter shots. Will he go Zhu Yuling way ? Time will tell...

You're telling me WMY/LGY is worse than ZYL/LJK?

I can't say with surety since I'm not on the team but considering LGY was sidelined for the semis and finals, it seems he isn't regarded as highly as the others. Also if you remember, he was omitted from Korean Open for absolutely no reason and at a time whereby he was only 5 points apart from FZD (then ranked number 1) after having won the Hungarian and Hong Kong Opens so you really can't help but think there is something else at play (e.g. favouritism). As for WMY, she didn't win any individual event (Singles, Doubles) except for Team so being sidelined is unsurprising, particularly since SYS is taking over her spot as the seemingly invincible/unbeatable newbie recently just as WMY had in (the first half of) 2018. Just my two-cents.

I personally don't read too much into it. Check out the group photos from WTTC 2019, taken from the CTTA official site.

Then, the CTTA has just released the revised lineups for the Swedish and German Opens. More like the pecking order that the public would expect, but still not necessarily representing the Olympic selections.

Compared with the Olympic Games a year later, Ma Lin said: "This tournament is just physically exhausting. The Olympics is stressful, tiring for the brain, and tiring for the mind. The Olympic schedule may not be so tight. It's still a bit early to speak about the Olympics now. I feel from now on, it is a process of continuous exploration and break-in for the XD players, although they won the WTTC in XD, their XD opponents are not the singles after all, whom are relatively unfamiliar, I feel it will get better and better."

In Harimoto's interview with TV Tokyo after the team final, he said that despite taking the G1, he couldn't receive XX's serve well afterward. His chiquita got around it in the 4th game, but it still didn't go as expected.
G2 in particular, where he lost the next 5 after 7:7[7:6]. Before 6:6, XX would serve to his BH, where he was good at returning. He knew the next one would go for his FH, yet the spin was so strong. He knew XX's chiquita would come back to his FH, but he just couldn't return it due to the difference in quality.

Harimoto added that XX doesn't run like he used to now, and instead goes for winners. He will definitely use his FH when necessary, given its threat even if you could see it coming. On XX's serve, he said the trajectory was so low and short, that he couldn't get around it even if he knew where it would land ahead of time.

On how to beat XX, he said, taking G1 is a must, and even if he adapts in G2, press on hard. If the game count becomes 1-1, he'd find a way back in. It's difficult unless you have a big lead.

"I will not lose before QF. Will meet LJK in SF if all goes well. I want to breakthrough and settle the score with XX in the final."

True, they can say something but also nothing. Interestingly though, assuming the following article from Sohu is reliable:

IMO then, the four possible line-ups are:

1) LSW-CM-SYS: This has been tested during ATTC2019 as we all know. Possibly the most logical in terms of overall ability and for the future (with some luck CM might still go to Paris 2024 and SYS perhaps reaching as far as 2028). Main downside is there wasn't any doubles to test the waters and LSW has never partnered SYS (as far as I know), CM/SYS's doubles hasn't achieved much while pairing LSW and CM (twice and won on both occasions) means making SYS the lead Singles (not sure if CNT will risk letting a young player take the very decisive matches 2 and 4).

2) DN-LSW-ZYL: This trio is what the above article was alluding to, with DN/ZYL playing doubles and LSW as lead Singles for Team World Cup. This is the most tried-and-tested arrangement after Rio 2016 and before all three experienced meteoric falls in their respective careers, with LSW being the only one who has bounced back.

3) DN-LSW-CM: A parallel version of (2) except DN to pair CM for doubles (intended partnership for both Swedish and German Opens) and LSW as lead Singles. Even with DN pulling out of GO, CM is still paired with a leftie.

4) DN-LSW-SYS: This completely cuts off the 'mid-gen ladies, leaving SYS the only one with Olympics experience (whatever that means) by 2024 and also pushing her to be lead Singles since the DN/LSW doubles is an established one.

Not sure, just rambling.

Random noob question:

Why did it take so long for XX to master the RPB having Wang Hao himself available in the coach's team? Didn't they let WH available enough for Xu Xin?

Coaching is not the Same thing as playing. Wang Hao and Xu Xin are very different players. While this is also specularion, the fact that Chen Qi is now Xu Xin's coach and is getting through to him technically shows that we sometimes teach best what we don't/didn't really do.

Yes, sure, but I was thinking more about the technique itself. Xu Xin could have his own coach, but couldn’t Wan Hao be useful assisting with the RPB alone?

I had good vibes about WH as a coach but after he pretty much destroyed FZD and Xu Fei, it is safe to say that a great player is not necessarily great coach material.

Had good vibes about him and I still think he's okay, I think we should cut him some slack, When FZD was playing very well during 2017 and Majority of 2018 he was FZD's coach, I just think it's just the path that perhaps FZD chose in terms of style with the gap at the top being very close , his style can be very vulnerable, And since late 2017 that's he's steadily become more forehand oriented his backhand has fluctuated a lot, it seems like his backhand thrives on his confidence and the flow of the match, the tighter it gets in the match the worse it becomes nowadays, ML has this issue with his backhand too, Fan tactical acumen and adapting on the fly is very poor too, Since he's a bit more forehand dominant now one would think he'll work more on turning the corner and 3rd balls like XX to avoid uncertain backhand battles against backhand dominant top players, but he'll keep to being subjugated and error prone in backhand rallies and trying to rally and often losing his balance or getting out of position that top players outrally him frequently now, His backhand looks super impressive and his looping is amazing in training videos but matchday comes and he looks lost, Also His Timing is often off, Where Wang Hao comes in is especially about Xue Fei, I know not everybody is destined to be Olympic and World Champion but with Xue Fei as WH's protege, he's basically reached nowhere, Same as some other talents in the team that may not necessarily be the best players in the world but can and should definitely play better, I'm not faulting the system, but I feel personal and thorough man to man coaching will bring out a lot more in them

I also heard in some forum that Chinese coaches are attributing FZD's form on his video gaming addiction. Not sure how true though.
