Is it true offense and defense don't mix?

Yup, the new kid on the block.

The Diaz sisters were the only pair who could take a game off of them.

i dont understand how JTTA benefits from sending players half way across the globe to play against poor competition. Wouldn't it cost 5-6k USD to pay for hayata and her coach's accommodation, flight, food just so she can play against... Adriana Diaz?

JTTA didn’t send/fund Hayata, Shiomi or Hashimoto, they went as independents on their own funds garnered from sponsors.
Hayata needed the ‘easy’ 1100 pts to boost her WR, with this win she’ll pull up to #6 in the Japan hierarchy next month.
otoh, Niwa probably wanted the ‘easy’ win to get him out of the current doldrums of first round exits, and flopped badly.

How do you know if players are sent by the association or independent?
I'm guessing koki was a waste of money from JTTA?

Hayata other reason is to get in top 16 as soon as possible. Once she does it, she will not have to play preliminaries in World Tour.

Unfortunately, to do this, at least this year, is almost impossible .....
Although Hayata is declared in Sweden and Germany, it can be declared in Austria ....(only qualification through Chinese players ...)
Declared for Challenger in Poland, but there are many Chinese women of the second and third team ......

The main thing is that when calculating the ITTF rating for December 2019, Hayata will have a big deduction of old bonuses ....(And ITO too, by the way ...)
And they both have few reserve points ...
Hayata may fall into the fourth ten again, and Ito may fall below Ishikawa and Hirano .....(In the ITTF rating 12/2019) ....

Of course but playing tours is the only way to make more points. This year is very good for her she is winning most of matches. But if she is going to be in JNT she must start beating second team chinese players regularly.
