Darker? On the live stream it looks pretty light. Too light for my tastes. Was hoping for a higher contrast, but at least it's still visible (unlike the early rounds at the German Open).

I agree. The colour of the table with the lighting and floor colour is a really bad experience if you are watching on the ITTF stream. Is this really what it is going to be like for the Olympic Games? I believe they are to use the same equipment etc. Check the set up for the last two Olympics - so clear and a joy to watch. The DHS tables are excellent.

The worst they will do is 2nd in group.

Given:
England beats Austria, England 1st in group, Japan 2nd, or;
England loses to Austria 2:3, England match difference +1, Japan 0, Austria -1, England 1st in group, Japan 2nd, or;
England loses to Austria 1:3, all teams match difference 0, down to game difference*, or;
England loses to Austria 0:3, Austria 1st in group, Japan 2nd

* Japan final game difference +4
Currently, England +2, Austria -6

If Austria is to finish above Japan, they will need to win 3:1 in match and +10 in game against England(down to point difference then), the latter of which is impossible since the max they can get is +9. Therefore, Japan will finish 2nd in group at worst.

Pitchford 3:2 Gardos

Japan will finish 2nd.
Austria is out.

See? Rest of world = weak. A few weeks of training with China have transformed the US team so much.

Amy Wang has excellent potential if she could strengthen her FH some more. She has a good BH. Liu Jia is way past her prime now but even Ishikawa had trouble beating her several years back.

I feel bad for Amelie. The ABS ball has taken the last breath out of her game.

JWT - plays in QF with Romania, in SF - with Korea ....

I did not know Kanak has haters ... the haters must be working real hard to find reasons to hate him
You mean you have not heard the "Kanak is not a top 50 player " crowd repeatedly say that without focusing on the positives in his game? It saddens me that the US has a player that good and that they won't even stand up for him even if he is clearly overrated because of continental rating points like Quadri and Hugo to a lesser a degree and Heming Hu to a greater degree.
