Yes, there is. Look it up. It's there.

Keyword: sweet spot

Try to hit with the center.
For top spin hitting above the horisontal axis is not good.
For flicks hitting between the center and the top side of the bat is more effective.
In all cases hitting near the fingers is bad.
Every player has his own pattern.
To see your pattern use new balls every session and loot at the marks.

Yes, there is. And you can read up and theorize about this, and a lot of other TT matters, to no end.

Yet that’s not all that helpful in feeding and grooming that part of the cognitive, sensory and motoric systems that actually need to grasp this.

So read up, but don’t forget to develop the actual feeling. This is done in contact with the ball, moving about, applying strokes, rather than through TheGugl, youtube, or heavy German textbooks.

I think this is more important for serves. To hard to control this in gameplay.

Yup. A lot more priorities to consider in an actual game so you have to instinctively hit the ball and hope that it connects on the best area. You either have to play a lot to learn it naturally or have someone to feed you balls so that you can consciously adjust your stroke to hit with "sweet spot" and hope that it can be replicated in an actual game.
