I know people love debating who's the best, Ma Long vs. Waldner, etc, but is there any debate as to if Xu Xin is the greatest doubles AND mixed doubles player of all time. No matter who the teammate is, he seems to win. I'm not sure it's just his game of offense, defense, long arms, power loops, etc, but his ability to be a good teammate that must make him another leve.

His doubles and mixed doubles are too long to list, but rather can link here.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xu_Xin_(table_tennis)

Please don't tell me about the 38/40/40+ ball or the new scoring system or something like that, seriously, he is the greatest doubles player ever.

I did see Ma Lin's doubles performance, and he would be my #2.

Xu Xin has more big titles, small titles, more diversity of partners (both in MD and XD), so it's hard to argue on any factual basis for Ma Lin. And, as Yogi Bear said below, he is still going, I think has at least 2-3 years more of top end MS performance, but even longer in MD and XD if the CNT lets him keep playing.

No doubt in my mind this is true. I made that comment in 2017 after I saw him play doubles in person at the WTTC in Germany. I hadn't counted the titles, it was just watching how he dominated points in doubles. It was just the eye test. His game is ideally suited for doubles.

I think, maybe Der_Echte should be under consideration for, at least, one of the top 10. He is so good as a doubles player that he even got me to play doubles adequately when he was my teammate. And I am hands down, the worst doubles player in history. :)

I definitely have some funny stories that would confirm that worst doubles player in history status. :)
