Looking at the current situation in Tokyo and the world, it seems likely that the postponed Tokyo Olympics next year will also be canceled.
When that happens, the players who are now practicing desperately for the Olympics are definitely too miserable.
However, it seems that many players are starting to think that there is a high possibility that it will be canceled.
It seems that it will be impossible to hold the Olympics because it seems that vaccines and medicines will only be completed after next autumn.
If that happens, Hirano will have it the worst. Unlike Ishikawa and Ito who have already participated in the Olympics,
if Hirano can't participate in the Olympics this time, she may end up without playing the Olympics for a lifetime.
4 years later, in addition to Ito the Great Demon King, the Olympics in Paris will also see Nagasaki and Kihara rising.
It's possible that Hayata will be even stronger, so it wouldn't be strange for Hirano to drop out.

Four years ago, on the Chinese side, many thought we would see the takeover of Fang Bo, Yan An, and Lin Gaoyuan. These predictions are often a crapshoot. That said, I don't know anything about Nagasaki and Kihara so happy to get any additional info.

Some Japanese netizens feel the announcement is T.League related.

考えられるのは…
・何かの試合の開催
・何かの試合の中止
・「これは世界一」の廃止
・中国など海外チームの受け入れ
・日本チームの海外遠征
・"頭より上サービス"の実施

他にあるかな?

What you can think of...
・Holding some kind of matches
・Canceling some matches
・Abolition of “This is World No. 1”
・Accepting overseas teams such as China
・Japanese team overseas expedition
・Implementation of "above-the-head service"

Is there anything else?

1 Play the T.League with an audience
2 Eliminate the T.League progressively and restart as a larger organization
3 Joint practice and practice games with China
4 Call each country and play table tennis-only Olympics
Of course it is a practice game
It will take place in the same format as the Olympics
Play as a virtual Olympics player
There is also a terrestrial TV broadcast

Yet others think it has to do with Olympic team selection whereas some others say the doubles will be canceled(from reports that doubles is disallowed at the NTC?). Similar responses on Miyazaki's tweet and 5ch, same persons?

You think if Olympics are held, would just be singles?

Team and XD would be scrapped?

Maybe it is Mizutani retiring and the end of Japan's strongest XD pair till date. His recent social media posts are all about his mobile games and woodwork. Lol ~

But re-starting tournaments/matches with audience is the most likely outcome IMO.

Could just be doubles being allowed at NTC...Miyazaki has a history of blowing things out of proportion.

Followers. Tomorrow at 16:00 we will make a significant announcement, with heavy criticisms in mind. However, there is no progress if we just hold meetings without doing anything. We want to go further. To open up the future of table tennis. For the table tennis world, for the players. For table tennis fans.

News report from last month when the NTC reopened, in which Miyazaki mentioned they wanted to resume doubles training after taking some precautions.

What MaLin2.0 wanted, a cash grab, ahem, fund-raising bubble event.

https://www.youtube.com/post/UgyBq7C6WyIK_oa9wVV4AaABCQ

Horrible times. Feel sorry for the players. Some need donations. We all have family and friends impacted by this situation too so would be difficult donating big amounts with so much uncertainty.

Yeah still for a say 4 week event to try fit in say equivilant of a whole year's worth of tournaments to get rankings sorted and proceeds go towards players and ITTF. This proposal by the day looks more hopeless as situation across the globe worsens.

Sad reality is Table Tennis & global touring sports might have to have a hiatis for a while until a solution can be found. Honestly not sure how Tokyo can host Olympics 2021 like this.

2020 Japan All-Star Dream Match

Wonder what huge announcement the JTTA has planned for tomorrow.

Apparently, the big announcement by Miyazaki is about the 2020 Japan All-Star Dream Match to be held in September. The idea was actually first brought up on May 26, 2020 by T-League Chairman, Koji Matsushita. They initially discussed ideas such as mixed gender matchups, "OB & OG" participation (literally translates to "Old Boy & Old Girl," and refers to former men's and women's members of the Japanese National Team. e.g. Koji Matsushita and Ai Fukuhara) and participation of the current Olympic Team. They even floated around the idea of having doubles matches with doubles pairs composing of 1 current player and 1 former player. This was to make up for the cancellation of the 19-20 T-League Final and to create excitement for T-League Season 3.

In June, Matsushita retired as T-League Chairman and it seems that Miyazaki, being the assistant T-League President, was the one continuing this project. The 2020 Japan All-Star Dream Match to be held in September will be a TEAM competition, but the team composition hasn't been decided yet. Miyazaki said it could be the Japan 2020 WTTC team vs the best T-League players who didn't make the WTTC team, or the Japan Men's team vs the Japan Women's team, or a combination of these ideas. However, there will be limitations on the participants of the event. First, they plan to limit the players to 20 or less. Second, there will be no international players in this event due to travel restrictions to Japan. Last, it seems unlikely that the OB and OG players (retired players) will participate. As of now, only Masataka Morizono has confirmed his participation, but T-League is prioritizing getting the Top Players on board (Ito and Sato in particular since they don't participate in T-League.) I think getting these top players is essential to make this event even more interesting and attractive to fans.

Miyazaki said that 3 Million Yen had to be raised to cover venue set-up costs and video production costs for the event. Miyazaki said they don't really need to raise this much money for the event to push through, and they could have opted to make the event pay-per-view. However, in order to truly promote table tennis worldwide, the 3 Million Yen needed to be raised in order to make the event accessible to everyone for free. Incredibly, they were able to raise the 3 Million Yen needed in less than 6 hours from the announcement, so I'm highly optimistic this event will push through, and that we will all be able to watch for free come September.

Miyazaki said that his announcement may bring about criticism. Some may be wary of exposing these players to infection in an unnecessary event. Some have doubts of whether a man vs woman match will be competitive enough to attract attention. Others may criticize the raising of funds for sports and entertainment purposes over humanitarian purposes. However, I honestly have nothing to critique, and I'm just excited because the concept of this event is unique and different from what we are used to seeing in table tennis. The lack of table tennis events in the world right now will only make this event more hyped.

Most people chose the ¥10,000 tier, the equivalent of 1 x Dignics or 2 x Rozena.

They will have their names appear in the closing credits.

I would like to see male vs top female Japanese players, particularly since many of the latter have male sparring partners. We've seen how the top Chinese women fared against the American men, assuming they went all out, and it seems like it could go either way.

They didn't.

Would still be interesting.

WE NEED A BLOODY COMPETITION.
Stivelopper Dainton the very man to bury the sport deepgrave. Dainton goes all eager for money profit; and we, the many people of the sport , all eager for a blatant competition. Conquering a damned foe, we all want Japanese to cause Chinese overall upset , is somewhat a bloody warfare rather than a showman singing jinglebell song in public.

As many feared on 5ch, Ito won't play in the All-Star event, citing her focus on "gold medal at Tokyo 2020."

After a week, the event has raised more than 2.5 times the 3 mil target.

All these players around the globe not just for Table tennis but other sports could be preparing for something not bound to happen. Winter Olympics 6 months later, some countries may boycott as a sign of retaliation. I admire Mima response and positive outlook.

This could be as someone mentioned miserable times for these athletes training with unknowns, limited funds to no funds coming their way.

I would love to see ITTF events back but not like Japanese all star event but I only speak for myself, others might enjoy the idea.
