Wow, Dima's placement was vicious that match. FZDs footwork and anticipation was pretty sloppy that whole match though, that's the sort of symptom he had going into his slump, he needs to get out of that quick, can't really afford another long slump.

You mean he got to 3-1, 10-7 with sloppy footwork and anticipation?

Anybody still insist FZD will play olympic singles ???

No doubt - losing to Dima deuce in the 7th in the same city where he did the same thing 3 years ago (in Germany with home crowd support - the Olympics are not in Germany) is not a big deal at all. Not like losing to Gauzy who is yet to win anything of significance in his career.

And in case folks wonder why they all look rusty, the entire CNT just came right out of intense military training. They took half a day off and flied straight to Germany.

LSW not receiving so well today, both for Mizutani's and Ito's serves. Keep ZYL out of your mind for now!

Pretty much to be honest, FZD didn't look very sharp for the whole game. Dima just didn't have the consistency to keep the ball on the table long enough early on.

Once Dima turned his game on, FZD couldn't get away with how much he was out of position anymore.

Might be weird to say, right after Dima beat him. But FZD's level is quite far above Dima now, getting to a position of 3-1, 10-7 by just playing on consistent mechanics but otherwise not at his best isn't something i wouldn't expect FZD to be able to do.

XX / LSW are the favorite to win Gold in Tokyo but JM /MI definitely have a chance to win...

This year's olympic winners are not predictable even in single everything can happen . MI and JM are a better pair than Ishikawa and yoshimura . They even can win the mixed double in tokyo

Well, Ito lost and lost .. It's okay ... She's not a robot ... Maybe she was not in the mood today .....

Personally, in February I’m only interested in two things now ...
Can Hayata reach the semifinals in Hungary Open? (she nr.12 seeding..)
Which team will China declare for Qatar Open? (Deadline tomorrow) ...

Incidentally, China put in WS a full TOP ...

FZD said he didn't handle the serve well at 10:7 of G5 and his mind wandered off at 10:8, and DO played well. He had his chance in G7 as well but didn't handle DO's serve well.

DN said G3 was crucial where she was down. She could've played better but overall played decent today. She wasn't up to speed with Ito's variations and pace at first but caught up later on.
