It seems in Mixed doubles as a general rule, the team with the advantage tends to be the team where the male player is hitting shots to the female player. That matchup tends to create the most issues on average. If you can handle that matchup you tend to win the match.

Is it just me or does every team conspire to lose to Xu Xin and Sun Yingsha to boost their confidence?

Mostly XX's. The female commentator had nothing but praises for XX and mostly criticisms for SYS. Meanwhile, the umpires also decided to fault the non-vertical tosses of everyone but XX. Definitely a memo went out.

Two strange things I have never witnessed before: Fan Z has just served nearly every point with his backhand. And Liang Jingkun is using a red rubber for his forehand!

They are very strict with the service rules. So maybe he served with his backhand after he got faulted for his service?

No, Fan's serves were legit. It just got weird at the start of the third game - his opponent suddenly started with two backhand serves and then Fan did the same. They both continued like this until the end of the match. Very bizarre.

Anyone notice the LJK vs. Xu Fei Match, LJK was using his viscaria twiddled (red FH/ Black BH)?

He also had this consistent grin on his face which makes me think there was some sort of friendly bet going on between the two.

Pretty exciting match and awesome to see players switching it up!

Having read this, I looked at the LJK vs Xu Fei match. Xu Fei's serve action at about 7:00 was ridiculously bad.
It didn't take a strict adherence to the rule to fault that one.
However, the high angle camera does make it look worse.

Shaky against Li Yake in the WS as well. Speechless after her post-match interview.

Li Yake thanks CM for putting her in the spotlight.

I'm actually really curious about Ma Lin's alleged 'disappearance' the past few days (he even sat out of CM's WS). I initially thought he was helping with LSW's training (which I'm assuming doesn't take place in Hainan) but he appeared at the XD finals.
