2010...that was the Women' Team, and you could equally say it was China NT vs. former China NT. Kudos to Singapore though - they didn't have the same supporting infrastructure.

I think Igorponger is right about the Men's team...and there was also the occasion when Korea (Republic) NEARLY beat them at the 2001 Osaka Worlds but Liu Guozheng saved N matchpoints against Kim Taek Soo.

Another famous Swaythling occasion - when Czechoslovakia beat China at the 1991 Worlds in the quarter-finals.
And in the same tournament Germany were 2-0 up against China, when the German coach conceded the match. Both teams were trying to lose to get a better draw in the playoffs.

World Team Cup 2011.

Russia almost beat China in QF of the MT event, losing 2-3. No one remembers it because it's Russia, right?

Kirill Skachkov took 2 points in M2 and M3, against MLin and MLin/WH, respectively.

wow i didn't remember that Asian Championships competition.

WTF thats an incredible opportunity missed. No wonder that after this Mizutani struggled so much mentally against Chinese players, and Xu Xin in particular for so long

and Matsudaira ! wtf he was so much talented then, and did nothing after
