Hello,

please I have a question. I am playing with short pips on backhand (materialspecialist burnout 2.0) and classic rubber on forhand (rasanter r37 2.0).
My style is looping with forhend and also with backhand (on backhand I am using short pips, because I have problem in reading spin, and also I dont have super loop)

Now I am using blade Andro Treiber CO OFF/S, but for me it is super fast and very often it happends to me, that my backhand goes behind the table and also sometimes forhand is not so exact, but it is not as bad.

I was considering between stiga clipper or Ma lin soft carbon wood. Which one can be for my game play better? I am not smasher at all, but I play long time and I am mid advanced player, not begginer at all. I am just looking for the most control on backhand.

Thank you very much

I would go with Clipper. Classic blade for short pips and good feeling since all wood. Do not know about ma Lin soft carbon for hitting. Falck played with a harder version for a long time before his own blade came out. Probably good for looping.

Well I would say that difficulty in reading spin will follow you whether you're playing SPs or Inverted but beyond that, I have a Clipper.

It is indeed a very good SP blade. Nice & stiff & fast.

As much as I like that blade, I personally like my Gambler Balsa Knight more. It's thick, very fast and I think more modern in that it has carbon for the FH, all wood for the BH.

I'm currently playing it in penhold inverted FH. LPs on RPB for occasional chop. It's better than the clipper I think.

Yes, clipper is better for the short pips. MLSC will flex more. Good for forehand loops, not so much for control with pimples.

When used to play with short pips tried a lot of blades that are preferred from pips players.
That includes Clipper CR, I`ve owned a Clipper it was 7 mm thick, a friend of mine has the older one that is ~6mm thick. Both playes completly different - mine was too fast
with no filling at all.

Also found that with new 40+ balls carbon blade provide more consistent feeling and control compared to classic 7players all wood pips blades.

7Ply blades i tried Clipper CR 7mm, Avalox P700, Nittaku Ludeack Power , Korbell SK7.

Thank you all. I was according to this and my experience doing research. Treiber co off s is so stiff and fast, so I need something slower. If ma lin soft carbon is so flex (has low stiffnes), what about ma lin carbon? It is stiffer than ma lin soft, a bit less stiffer than clipper, but not so much - but it is lighter and also it is one grade slower and less stiffer than my current treiber.
Also can help to switch from 2mm pips to 1,9mm pips? I really use pips often to loop, than hit. Most attack is made with my forhend - topspin.

Thank you

Thank you very much. Btw, what about ma lin carbon? It should be a bit slower than clipper, but it is stiffer than soft carbon. I really need to slow down a bit my backhand. My current OFF+ wood is very fast for me.

Thank you

Thank you very much for reply. Last wood I was thinking was ma lin extra offensive, but I am not sure about 5 ply wood - everywhere I read that 7 ply wood is minimal for short pips. On the other hand it should be a bit slower than ma lin carbon. Thanks.
I also play with short pips but on my forhand.yasaka ma lin carbon is stiff and hard also is slower than treiber co. It will great choice in my opinion and of course cheaper than stiga 45 and treiber co.

Hi, I played with Yasaka Ma Lin Extra Offensive for several months, it is great for looping and short game. But sometimes I had problems with its flexibility (block, drive against Antispin rubber), because it added more kick into my play than I was used to (my previous blade was composite Treiber K, much stiffer) which resulted too often in ball ended behind the table.
On the other hand, I have no experience with short pips, maybe pairing it with a flexible 5ply allwood blade could work nicely. But it will be definitely a bigger difference between Treiber CO and YEO than between CO and Ma Lin Carbon or some stiff 7 ply allwood blade.
BTW I could recommend reviews of Patrick Hrdlicka,he has also short pips on Bh, perhaps his thoughts about Tibhar Samsonov Force Pro Black Eddition (same composition as classic Clipper, but more flexible) could help you.
Or if you like CO feeling and have problem with its speed onlu, you could try Treiber CI, which has the same set of layers, only with Kevlar carbon placed near the centre (inner-fibre construction). It is slower and more sensitive blade than CO.

Hello thank you, I think I will go to this ma lin carbon, one more I was thinking according to the "numbers" is stiga offensive classic carbon. It also has 7 plyes and is a bit slower and with similar stiffness. Can it work? I am bit affraid on Clipper, that it will be so heavy.
