The BoD is meeting up today. On the agenda:

-Update technical leaflets (new colours on racket coverings, balls to be more similar etc)
-Details for competition are moved from "politics to administration". Possible to change the competions without changing the rules.
-HK wants more nations in the WTTTC, from 32 to 40
-Europe (ETTU and Sweden) has several propositions to protect national leagues and european leages (....from WTT....)..

And more...

Saw it coming in 2018 regarding the "streamlining" of "Regulations for World..."

Interesting proposition for Resolution J. The way Europe treating the coaches like dirt has been a problem for so long.

WTTTC Busan from 27. february with 32 or even just 16 teams.
Next time in Chengdu, up from 32 to 40 teams! (19 votes for/18 against!)

World juniors U19 and U15. Portugal 21. Tunisia 22.

More protected dates for national leagues. And maybe a mix team world championship.

Minutes from the meeting will probably come soon.

What does this mean then, national associations will have to qualify for the World champs now?

Yes, in a way. It is presented as an expanded WTTTC. 50/50 true/false ;). In the old school WTTTC, "all nations" could enter, and go to the tournament. The top nations were fighting for the title, the others only for promotion or relegation from the B group, C group. However, they could not win! Now it is like an "inverted Hotel California". You can check-in anytime, but you can never come! All nations fight for the title (good), but it is in "first stage" groups where "Slonesia meets Slotania" in a training hall with 50 spectators. In the end you stay home (not so good). Only the top teams meet in the WTTTC finals.

Originally the plan was 32 teams in the finals. Hong Kong proposed (and got) 40. (HK is sometimes HK, and sometimes others, like the Athletes commission.)

Interesting to see how Busan in march is solved, with 32 or maybe 16 teams. Who will be scrapped, and how??
