Sounds like you handled this as well as possible. It appears he hoped you would send the blade and then ask for payment when it was too late. Good that you had a prerequisite of payment before sending the blade.

I really feel the way Jimbob feels about scammers as well. But I know, even if the information is put out there, I can't get everyone to read and know how to handle something like this. And part of scamming is, the scammers are slick enough to make people think it is not a scam.

It is really frustrating, with the internet that, this stuff is so easy to get away with.

Well, given hipnotic's excellent reputation as a blade builder, he could very probably sell that Innerforce ZLC to someone else who does not care that much about the peruvian colors, could he not? Or he could remove the handle caps and replace them with "neutral" looking ones.

As for the scammers: Some of course are smart enough to change their modus operandi from time to time, i.e. whenever it's necessary. You cannot avoid them 100% of the time.

It can also be the flag of Canada! Or even Austria! With a little imagination Denmark can work too, it's a very versatile blade

I guess, also, please post to the thread on TTDaily and/or MyTT about your experience with Juanma so people know scammers are out there and some of the ways they operate.

And definitely worth posting stuff on the guy's social media.

Not sure if he is really associated with this University; perhaps he studied there. But the above mentioned bebee page also mentions "Panorama Global Sports" which seems to be a tt shop. It has or has had a facebook page which I'm also not able to access. Searching for images indicate that this shop is or was a Butterfly distributor.
Anyway, since chintanmashroo wants to file charges against Juan, he might also want to take a look at Panorama Global Sports.

Generally I think that these scammers need to be confronted as often as possible. If you look at the "Known scammers" thread over at mytt and read some of the stories, one can see/read that in some cases it actually works. In one instance one mytt member knew one of the scammers personally, confronted him and was eventually able to sort the things out. In another case the club of the scammer was contacted and apparently the scammer was suspended from participation and complained about it and also that the personal information about him should be removed from mytt...

That being said, it is frustrating to see that for example this czech mf Erik Zegermacher from Trebon is still "on the loose". There are multiple complaints about him (on mytt, a german forum and probably elsewhere too). He plays or played for the club(s) "TJ Jiskra Trebon" and "TJ Calofrig Borovany".

I would imagine that there are ttd and/or mytt members who live more or less nearby Trebon, speak the language and maybe even know other people of these clubs. It might be worth contacting his club(s) and tell them about their criminal club mate, wouldn't it?

This guy Zegermacher was one of the worst and most persistent scammers I ever dealt with at MyTT.

It would be interesting to hear from chintanmashroo again and if there is any progress in the case in general and in the communication with the police from Lima in particular. I understand that he needed to provide more evidence against Juan...but maybe we will know more by the end of next week.
