My coach has 2 funny ways of trying to make a point.

The first is stamp on the spider.
This is for the forehand backspin serve.
After the weight transfer of going back on the back leg he wants me to stamp on the spider using the front leg to bring the torso down during the serve swing. (I am stamping on jumping ants as I hate them more than spiders)

The second is twist the floor anticlockwise or clockwise.
This is used in the forehand loop.
From the stance position he wants my left foot to twist the floor clockwise to turn the left knee to point at the right leg.
Then he wants me to twist the floor anticlockwise to get the rotation for the forward stroke.

This actually seems to work for me!!!

What are your own coaches expressions that help you get better technique.

In a match once. I called timeout. Key monent. I was not playing very well.

Guy who was coaching me said, "Just take it easy, don't try to hit so hard. Hey Doc, see that chick over there? Damn. You should think about having sex with her. ....... ....... ok. Go play".

Cracked me up. Funny thing is, for the life of me I can't remember if I won or lost that match.

One I remember that helped me a lot:

"You have more time than you think you do"

I remember Dora Kurimay saying this to me a bunch. I have to be honest, I did not fully understand it till I really knew how to spin the ball decently from both sides.

I don't remember if I heard this from my old coach or from my TT friend:

To be a TT world champion, you just need to do these 3 things consistently:

1. Never miss hitting the ball
2. Never hit the ball onto the net
3. Never hit the ball out of the table
