I think he cuts a slot in the blade between handle parts but does not vut into handle itself. My blade had attached a tag with writing that i requested hollow handle and blade is 5g lighter than sheet it was suppose to be made from, so i suspect that handle was indeed lightened. Blade balanced in head even without rubbers.
