I find both are important but the blade edges out in front in terms of importance to me. I would prefer to find the right blade first, then experiment with different rubbers. For example, I know Stiga offensive classic CR is perfect for me, and have used the same blade for over 20 years. As others have said, changing blades all the time only throws your game out because the adjustments can be huge. I'm currently experimenting with rubbers and making adjustments as my skill level or how I want to play changes. My advice would be to settle on a blade first and play around with rubbers later.
