Speaking German at German Clubs

says Footwork footwork footwork
I agree with most said from my experience over the past 10 years traveling to Germany on and off while also trying different German clubs.

Learn a little bit if you can. The smallest effort (like introducing yourself) goes a long way and might break that little comfort barrier on their end to try to speak English with you.

Aside from that, learning German as an adult is pretty fun! Try it out :)

Viel Spaß!

One thing I like about France is regional differences are not so pronounced so I can function reasonably anywhere there (or in Geneva, Lausanne or Brussels). That doesn't mean I understand everything though. I need to get better at some of the slang used these days in ordinary popular language. Usually when I'm there it takes about two weeks before my brain processes things at full speed efficiency. And I still make way too many grammatical mistakes but it seems people always understand me. I've never experienced anyone being rude to me because I make a mistake here or there.
