Some thoughts on the match b/w Hayata and JJH at WTT Doha before the rematch at ATTC team final b/w Japan and South Korea moments later.

Hayata's form was neither good nor bad. It was just that JJH could go toe to toe with Hayata's FH and even had the upper hand in FH rallies, as noted by JJH's coach. It wasn't until the 3rd or 4th game that Hayata stopped using her side-topspin pendulum serve, switched to her side-backspin semi-tomahawk serve and relied on her BH for points instead that turned the tables.

JJH's meltdown was more than that yellow card. She was off against Sawettabut in the previous round. The KNT has come under public criticism after the Olympics and she has been in the spotlight for "finetuning" her face, where she openly admits and even shares her experience, but laments that people are more interested in her eyelids than her game.

As her coach pointed out to the sobbing JJH at the bench after the match, her psyche broke down and "why could Hina do it when behind?"

South Korea Team A couldn't take on Japan Team B+/A- (couldn't make up my mind because Ito is the only A grader from the Olympics trio so not sure what to make sense of this ATTC group) at all – that's surprising.

On a side note, Chen Meng is joining hands with her two nemeses Wang Manyu and Chen Xingtong to take on the other ladies for CTTSL. Honestly, who stands a chance? Even Wang Yidi has left Sun Yingsha's camp, guess SYS can prepare herself for another Silver?

Uda didn't make the team. He lost to Matsushima and Mizutani in the group stage of ATTC 2021 trial.

Uda's presence would likely not help here, given his poor showing at WTT Doha a week ago.

Kizukuri is the one to blame here. He and Ando just lost in the XD.

Hayata and Ishida learned from the last match. Ditched the typical game plan from the get-go. Not a single pendulum serve. Either the shovel serve or the semi-tomahawk serve. Hardly any FH rallies, let alone a FH winner. What an experience for Hayata to avoid forcing a step-around the entire match. JJH got pinned down to the BH and just couldn't crack it.

JJH vs Ando
3:11
1:5, 4:5, 4:7, 5:7, 7:8, 7:9, 11:9
1:1, 1:3, 4:3, 4:4, 5:4, 5:6, 6:6, 8:6, 8:7, 11:7
0:4, 3:4, 3:5, 5:5, 5:6, 6:6, 6:9, 7:9, 7:10, 8:10, 8:11
1:0, 1:1, 3:1, 3:2, 5:2, 5:3, 7:3, TO for Ando?, 8:3, 8:5, TO for JJH?, 8:9, 10:9, 10:12

Roller coaster ride on both sides. I want to see how Ando blew her lead in the 2nd and JJH in the 5th, respectively.

Zhu Chengzhu vs SYB
I'm watching for Li Ching instead. Cracks me up as he constantly switches between Mandarin and Cantonese .

Hayata vs DHK
DHK says something about her serve. I guess she has exhausted every option after meeting 3 times in a week.

Hayata could have won in 3 games against Shibata but insisted on killing every shot at every opportunity and almost ended up killing herself.

Japan is the new South Korea. Uda/Togami blasting shot after shot past JWJ/LJH Korean-style is hilarious. No wonder the latter pair couldn't help but smile.
