ATTC 2021 qualifier
Uda: Upset after upset. 🌚

WTTC 2021 qualifier
Uda: Upset after upset. 🌝

Hayata played better this time than at the ATTC 2021 trial. It appears she has been working on her BH after WTT Contender/Star Contender Doha 2021. It's faster and more stable now. As far as I've seen, she doesn't use 反手抹(BH wipe) anymore. She always played that stroke when she wanted to follow up with the FH next, but that cost her a lot of points since well-aware opponent forces her to make the steparound by jamming her middle. Instead of forcing the steparound, she now looks to enter BH quick exchanges more. Will see how she does tomorrow.

P.S. On top of using the reverse pendulum serve more now, she has some new serves, such as this.

Competition is tough in the JNT ! a lot of players are very close in level, it depends on the form of the day, and the ability of dealing with mental pressurehead-to-head preferences also matter a lot.

Muramatsu who made got his ticket through ATTC qualifiers , didn't even make it to the 2nd stage here

Hayata is completely off in the afternoon session. Can tell from her heavy footwork. FH suffers so much. Just like how she lost to FTW at WTT Star Contender Doha. Stamina problem, that she also acknowledges in a recent interview?

Ishida not calling TO in G3 is puzzling, losing 4 in a row after 9:7. Same scenario in G1 where she blew her lead as well. Too many side-topspin serves.

Shibata 3-4 Nagasaki
Hayata 3-4 Hashimoto, was 3-1 in the lead and had game point.
Oikawa 2-4 Morizono(You got lucky last time!)
Oikawa 0-4 Uda
Oikawa 0-4 Togami

2 matches in the morning then 2 in the afternoon that are spaced so close, essentially with no break in-between? What kind of scheduling is this? It's just 5PM in Japan.
All-Japan 2021 was a joke when seeded players were forced to play 3 singles matches on the opening day.
Oikawa: WTTC 2021 trial is a joke.

I thought this was a 4-day camp where players stay on-site. What's the point of cramping so many, not to mention an increasing number of matches, in 8 hours?

世界卓球2021ヒューストン 日本代表選考合宿(WTTC 2021 Houston Japan's representatives qualifier camp)
2 matches on day 1, starts at 14:00 local time.
3 matches on day 2, starts at 10:00.
4 matches on day 3, starts at 09:30.
2 matches on day 4, starts at 10:00.

5W-2L
Shibata 24/12
Hashimoto 22/19

4W-3L
Oikawa 18/21
Kizukuri 20/22
Togami 20/14

Shibata and Togami going? Or do they just count the games won/lost between themselves? If the latter, then Shibata and Togami are still going.

2 spots
Hayata 1st
Shibata 2nd
Hashimoto 3rd

3 spots
Uda 1st
Morizono 2nd
Togami 3rd

Oikawa 4-2, 0-4 = 4/6
Kizukuri 2-4, 4-3 = 6/7
Togami 4-0, 3-4 = 7/4

There are 3 spots for the men's since Mizutani is retiring. Harimoto and Niwa have qualified by winning a medal at Tokyo 2020.

another great performance for HAYATA. She only lost to HASHIMOTO and that was at deuce in the 7th decider game.
She did great for the ATTC qualifiers.

OTOH, for girls like SATO, HASHIMOTO, NAGASAKI, KIHARA, it must be quite disappointing not to seize at least one of those 2 opportunities. They are supposed to be stronger than ANDO and SHIBATA who will go to ATTC and WTTC respectively (if those competitions are not cancelled)

For men, its a bit too bad for KIZUKURI, he did well in the ATTC qualifiers but this time he lost to MORIZONO and UDA.
MORIZONO is the only OG to make it in this qualifiers. Well done !
it will be quite exciting to see if those young Japanese players can fight without fear and upset the Chinese in those tournaments.

Mizutani retired and Niwa seems finished. Beside Harimoto they really need a few new promising young players and so I'm happy for Uda and Togami. Unfortunately Yuto Kizukuri didn't make it.
