Hi All, I just got back to table tennis and was wondering why my forehand was so inconsistent and I can only be consistent when I’m not gripping properly the blade… so I thought it was because when I started young I had to start tournaments early and learned backspin and others early, so how can I get better at throwing my forehand whilst gripping the blade properly, thanks

Grip is tougher than it looks. The theory is simple. It should help you keep your wrist firm and under control (you must feel precisely where your wrist is while swinging) but your full body, particularly arm and shoulder fully relaxed. That's the point that coaches would say "firm but not tight". It usually feels a little odd because it's probably lighter than you would normally hold a thing. At some point, you should feel like you "lock" the bat in your hand instead of grabbing its handle.
