Hi there,

I've played table tennis for 8 years and most of it has been competitive.
My current bat ( which I haven't played that much with ) has medium pimples on the BH and mxp on FH, my current blade is Tibhar E.Lebesson. Even though I do like chopping, I don't think becoming a full on chopper with pimples is what I want, since I sometimes attack/flick with my backhand and I'm not great at twiddling. I often have BH push rallies where I will open up on my FH, but I am also willing to loop and block with my backhand.
Basically, I feel like my pimples are restricting my play since I don't think I want to be a 'chopper' even though I do want to chop every now and then - I like playing with control through good serves and pushes then opening up later.

Since my BH is a bit all over the place I'm really not sure what rubber to go for. I was considering a tacky rubber on BH, and since my mxp is quite old maybe upgrading my FH to a Tenergy 05.

Any advice/thoughts are appreciated!

Not sure what exactly you want to specialise with your BH because what I understand is you want a everything-can-do rubber. Since you are not sure exactly what you want, then just put on a middle of the road, jack of all trade, master of none rubber such as Joola Zack or Yasaka Mark V and play with it first until you decide which direction you want to go. Thereafter seek a more specialised rubber / tool.

Your style of play is kind of similar to mine .. I play with long-pips ... I also attack/flick with my BH .. Except, that I twiddle and do so .. I can also block with my BH, with both, the Long Pips, and Inverted.. However, I cannot loop with my BH ..

Infact, I've been contemplating trying-out Medium and/or Short pips, with a 1.2 - 1.5mm sponge, since It would give me better attacking options..

You haven't mentioned what MP you're using .. However, I'm looking at MPs like Friendship 563, and Yinhe Pluto, as they're cheap, for trying-out .. You could try MPs like TSP Militall, or Nittaku Pimplemini .. If you want to switch to short-pips, then Friendship 802-40 could be a good place to start.

I'm following this comment. But maybe take a more modern middle of the road rubber like Yasaka Rakza 7?
