Been a H3 user for many years. The new batches of provincial and national H3 are less tacky, and the grip on the topsheet wears off more quickly.

I plays once a week. The ball will skid on my H3 in about 3 months.

My old H3 used to last twice longer.
Ha! This just corroborate my point, i.e., Nat H3 is just not worth spending the money on.

I wish to further add: If you want Nat H3, Nit-H3 is a better and cheaper option whereas if you want Provincial H3 & Friendship Battle 2 Provincial Blue Sponge is a better and cheaper option. This is my personal experience. Your mileage may differ.

a member of my club decided to upgrade from commercial to provincial and his verdict :""" A waste of extra costs.""" He could not
find any improvement at all and to be honest, after i had a go with is racket, neither could i

That is the problem with lack of knowledge.

It is even stated by DHS that the different versions of the Hurricane 3 are coming from the same batch. The only difference is the consistency or quality control with the different versions. While you can be certain of what thickness and hardness you gonna get EVERYTIME if you buy the national version, that wont be the case for the other versions, especially not with the commercial one.

Several years ago i had serious problems with newer Hurricane 3s. Because for some reason the weight and feeling changed dramatically from one rubber to the next. Looking back now with more knowledge i am pretty sure that i got a way harder and thicker version than ordered/stated by the tag.
But i must say that i never had that with the provincial ones. The slight changes some time never felt that big, so i could easily tweak my technique a bit.

@Gozo: Though the Battle 2 provincial blue is a really good rubber, it is just an alterantive and not a really good comparisment because they are srsly different. Cant say much about the Nittaku one because i never played those.

Sorry, just to clarify a little, Friendship Battle 2 should be compared to the Neo Hurricane seried. Must be apple to apple comparison.

Then you have to compare the blue sponge versions^^
So yeah i would say too that you get way more bang for your buck especially compared to the national versions. I mean you must play table tennis on a srsly disgusting high level (and be able to boost with an equally high precision) to get disturbed by a slight difference in weight/thickness/hardness.
Otherwise you can simply stick to the provincial versions or even the commercial ones.

I think Gozo is referring to the DHS H3s that Nittaku is selling besides their "hybrid" H3s (Turbo Blue and Turbo Orange)

National DHS H3 Neo Blue Sponge from Nittaku (NR-8734 with the same ITTF number than the DHS H3s (24-108))
https://www.nittaku.com/products/rubbers/post-61

Provincial DHS H3 Neo Orange Sponge (NR-8701 / ITTF 24-108)
https://www.nittaku.com/products/rubbers/post-20

vs.

Nittaku H3 Turbo Blue https://www.nittaku.com/products/rubbers/post-18 and Turbo Orange https://www.nittaku.com/products/rubbers/post-19 both have the ITTF number 24-038 and are harder and heavier than their other H3s (50° Nittaku Japan = 60° ESN ~ 43° DHS and 45° NJ = 55° ESN ~ 41° DHS for the Turbo Blue and Orange) vs. 42.5° NJ = 52.5° ESN or around 39.5° DHS.

Oh well ill just get a Tenergy 19 cuz i dont wanna waste time boosting

Sure. But it's hard to compare a boosted H3 with a Tenergy. You play in a different way with these two rubbers. I can't play any good with a bouncy Tenergy, and the brush looping game isn't working at all. The best I found for my play is a boosted H3 41deg.

Hear hear! I second this statement from personal experience.

The issue with bouncy sponge is before you could complete the brushing / licking / pulling etc, the ball has already left the rubber top-sheet and on the way to Timbaktu in jet plane speed.
