Try rubbing off the glue with an ink eraser .. For more stubborn glue - use acetone/propanone .. take some acetone on a cloth, and spread it on the glued surface ..then rub the glue off, with either your finger tips or an eraser ..

I think soaking with water should work, because it was originally from water glue

No ! once the waterbased glue has dried and gone hard it will not dissolve in water anymore.
Think of waterbased paint outside the house.............................rain won't wash it off 😁
