Connecting sports science research to Table Tennis practice

I recently got interested in sports science, and there seems to be a lot of research on Table tennis training that is very interesting.

Many practice techniques discussed are about repetition, but not enough is mentioned on how to be flexible in your strokes. What does sports science research say about the way we practice, topics like mixing it up , interleaving

Example research quoted in the video is teaching backhand in table tennis. The study concludes that altering the followthrough improved stroke retention instead of focusing on having the same followthrough.
