I never understood why the Chinese companies have such confusing branding conventions. For Battle 2, why is it called B2 Provincial? I have never seen commercial or national version, do they exist? Why does B2 Provincial have orange, blue, and purple sponge versions?

For H3N, why is there OS and BS version but the hardness is the same? Why not clearly specify the rubber title and the difference in rubber characteristic like Tenergy 05, 80, etc.

Well, Hurricane rubber is really popular in China, but not so much elsewhere, so their marketing is more directed to the Chinese market. You can find loads of information, and all kinds of comparisons between different version of H3, if you search in Chinese.

So for the Chinese consumer, is the difference between OS and BS and National, provincial, commercial easily understood?

Based on what you said, BS has more dwell time. But I haven't ever seen that in official DHS marketing explanation.

And I still don't really know the difference between C, P, and National versions. I think the topsheets of slightly harder for provincial and national?

Yes, I believe for Chinese consumers the difference is pretty clearly understood, at least I'm pretty happy with the information I can find when searching in Chinese.

As for the official marketing explanation, I don't think DHS shows these different versions on their official website, but on their official retail online store you can find some more info. As for the difference between C, P, N versions, it's just a QC indicator.

Friendship Battle 2 Provincial blue sponge test on tackiness ( 9 secs ) - YouTube

The above is a short video of my Friendship Battle 2 Provincial Blue Sponge test of tackiness. It held the ball for a freaking nine seconds. No other tacky rubber I know comes close to it in my personal opinion.

I would like to stick my neck out there and say, if you are into Chinese Tacky Rubber sort of thing, get the Battle 2 Blue Sponge and be happy.
Also, I feel that Battle 2 is livelier, the sponge is slightly more bouncy compared to H3 series, which has a much deader feel.

As for H3 series, forget about National or Provincial b'coz they are too pricey and seriously not worth the money. It is not meant to be used by us regular mortals. If you insist on using it, just use the Commercial version coz I feel they are tacky and softer ( after boosting ) compared to the Pro / Nat.

For those who do not know, according to my regular vendor, Battle 2 is only available in the Commercial and Provincial variant. He said that the company do not sell the National version outside the motherland.

Check out my regular vendor website as below:
Tenryu (M) Sdn Bhd - Malaysia independent supplier/seller of quality products for Sports. Specialist in Table Tennis (Ping Pong). Branded TT products: TSP, Butterfly, Nittaku, Palio, Donic, DHS, Double Fish, Yasaka, Palio, Haifu, Victas, Tenergy, Bluefire, Ventus, Agrit, Acuda, Violin, Tenor, Viscaria, Dynam,Kedai,Shop Location: Subang Jaya, Selangor. : Tacky Rubber

For ease of reference, 1 USD = RM 4.25

Sooooo….
I got a provincial H3 neo blue sponge and I’ll try it out tomorrow. It’s 39 degrees hardness. I had lots of trouble finding first hand info on this rubber, so I want to give back to the community, and provide the info. If anyone has any questions on this rubber, feel free to leave them here, and I’ll try to answer them as best I can.

could you compare in your experience OS Provincial BS Prov and commercial...

I am very interested in OS provincial... is it any different than com version?

I know that the difference is only qc, but is there something that you feel is different?

Do you know the difference between B2 OS, BS, and Purple sponge?

Blue sponge is the one to go for. After boosting; it is sticky/tacky, soft and bouncy. All the attributes that make me love her. Orange sponge is a little harder if my memory serves me correctly.

To put it in very simple term: Blue Sponge if you are a looper whereas Orange Sponge if you are a hitter. I have no experience with purple sponge.

Have you tried Bloom Power? How is it compared to B2?

The difference is indescribable. It feels significantly better for me, but exactly HOW? I can’t say in words. Maybe “smoother” feeling, greater spin, more comfortable sponge.

Tenergy also have commercial versions and pro versions.
Its more a quality control issue where the pros get the best of the best, but for some, maybe they would for example, make the sponge harder than the regular version.

DHS just makes it "open card", unlike many brands that hides pro versions and in recent years DHS has started commercializing of it. I guess quality control is now better and the can produce a lot more compared to previous decades.
firstly, when comes to DHS, there are different sponges (not just by color) and then from there you get the hardness.
the hardness indicator also refers to how many layers of booster you can use, for example OP's 39, I won't put too much on, otherwise it will be too soft.
In recent years, you also get softer ones like 37, for the backhand.

The comes to boosting, blue sponge is designed for boosting.
If you a Timo kind of guy, then NEO is factory boosted. Normal H3 would have no boosting.
99% of the people (that aren't hobby players) I know, who use blue sponge, will boost. And if they get a Neo, they would remove the factory booster and use their own layer.

boosting does reduce the shelf life of the rubber a lot. Incorrect or "bad luck" boosting, could actually result in the rubber unusable (bubbling - sponge and top sheet separating) on your 1st day.
most higher level players around me, won't use it for more than a month, mostly change around 2 ~ 3 weeks.

I’d rather spend more time than others to improve my skill and play fair, than break the rules. I don’t mind other people doing it, and may help them in boosting and gluing, but I won’t use it.
