We spent time training different drills this week.
But Falkenberg is a nice one for improving in consistency, endurance, footwork, placement and more.
Do you have favorite 🏓 drills?
Let me share a short video with that Falkenberg
By the way, burning 🔥 legs like crazy 🤣

Not bad, good quality top spin from under spin balls.

I don't normally see people train falkenberg with full underspin though. Normally 1st feed (or none) will be underspin.
as for us, fakenberg is to train the cross over wide forehand shot.

Not much underspin on the feed.

The feed is more or less perfect to land a topspin shot. If it was more underspin or overspin You have to work harder. The feed speed is tough but thats the point You have to move Your feet like a *+%¤*#.

underspin feed, you won't cross over on wide FH.
top spin feed, you can cross over on wide FH

cross over falkenberg is more Asian
Euro/Western don't really use cross over step

Sorry, I don't see the relevance.

you must have missed my first message - the one that you replied to
let me requote for you "as for us, fakenberg is to train the cross over wide forehand shot".

I see, but I was only disagreeing about the spin on the feed (very little).
We are basically doing the same thing as the video but not multiball.

I don't understand Your expression "cross over wide forehand shot".
Do You mean "forehand from Your backhand side to his forehand side" or using a tennis expression "forehand to the wrong corner"?

I'm not sure if I will say a former world champion will feed with little spin.
But I was also being nice to complement on the stroke.

For my expression:
If doing the same drill, but top spin feed.
Falkenberg drill: BH - Pivot FH - Wide FH.
The pivot FH to wide FH step to use cross over step, not side to side step.

for example:

He will feed what is appropriate and it’s clearly visible that it is more speed than spin.

The crossover was referring to the feet not stroke. Pivot would be more appropriate for me. I think you are correct, we never cross our feet, that’s a recipe for disaster 🙃

When the ball is coming "far" from you, side-step move won't help, you need to sort of jump there. During this "jump", when performed the way it is performed, the legs "cross", the non-dominant leg is for a moment "before" the dominant leg (dominant right for right-hander). That's why the term is "cross over". It has nothing to do with pivot, you can do it without pivot before it. I hope this makes it clearer.

And, you will get to such situation soon or later, where the ball is coming "far" from you. Why exclude a useful technique?

We make a lot of Falkenberg variations, sometimes:
Underspin > Backhand
Topspin > Forehand
Topspin > Forehand wide

And believe me, He can manage to put pressure with more spin and speed for sure.
And I like this one to burn 🔥 legs 😄
I know it’s horrible, luckily we take turns “feeding”. 🤪

Cheers

Brilliant performances.
Of course living in a provincial town of a 3rd world country I never even saw multi-ball done in our clubs.
My only exercise is with my robot.

I wonder if in this Falkenberg drill the feed is known to the receiver and is always the same routine or will the coach try to
catch you out by serving "unpredictable"

Good point 👌
It depends on what we want to accomplish.
Sometimes we simulale "real" point situations like:
- Feeding with short underspin "3 points on the table" and then feeding topspin to "known" areas covered by backhand or forehand or after the short underspin, topspin to the "uncomfortable" areas like the elbow.
I like to receive the 1st serve and then something "Unpredictable" or "Uncomfortable" too.
I'm working hard to control the whip with the Forehand "Short, Medium and Long", and backhand.
RPB is not easy 😪 😆

cross over is feet - correct, same as pivot is a footwork.
we say pivot fh, cross over wide fh etc.

maybe for beginners, I may need to be more clear on the terminologies.
but for any one with former training, I think the above terms should be easily understood
