Well, right now, there are war games going on, because China is pissed off at USA over Taiwan. And because China can't afford to bully USA, they are bullying Taiwan and banning imports on non economical threat goods (not sure why they don't ban semiconductor imports from Taiwan lol).

And obviously the Western powers don't like communist bullies, now Europeans has 2 more contigents of visits to Taiwan in the coming weeks (for the sake of telling you know who, that they can go where they want). So more tension....

Maybe they should get some sportsmans/womans into the military high command, and play sports rather than just threats to kill every second day.... sports is good for pressure and good for health too.

The problem is not the table tennis players.
Even though the boss is highly ranked in the PLA (colonel), the table tennis people are cool.

We need the president, premier and all generals that love to fight, to come and play.
They should all spend a week or two with they respective table tennis team, and then have a Chinese gov vs USA gov and stop using the table tennis players as pawns.
Maybe that would ease off some pressure and prevent economic turmoil, the Taiwan straits problem can easily be 10 folds the economic harm compared to Ukraine, that is why so many countries want China to sit down.
