Monteiro João (born 29 August 1983) is a Portuguese table tennis player from Guarda. João has competed in four Summer Olympics (2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020), his highest achievement being a quarter-final with Portugal in 2012 in London. In 2019, he won the World Championship bronze in doubles with Tiago Apolónia. Monteiro João became the European champion in 2014 in the team, in 2015 in the doubles with Stefan Fegerl and in 2016 in the mixed doubles with his wife Daniela Dodean, he repeatedly became the winner of the tournament. He became the bronze medalist of the 2015 World Team Cup as part of the Portuguese national team and the silver medalist of the World Tour Grand Finals in doubles. He also became the silver medalist of the Mediterranean Games-2022 and the bronze medalist of the European Games-2019 in the team category. He was the silver medalist of the Europe Top-16 tournament in the Portuguese Gondomar. Six-time winner of the national championship of Portugal in singles, multiple winner and prize-winner of the European team cups and team championships of different countries as part of various teams.Monteiro's wife is Romanian tennis player Daniela Dodean and they got married in July 2013. Their daughter was born in April 2015.
