Which one for chopping on the BH while still having the ability to put away loose balls?

Both use porous sponge, very different from the usual Hurricane sponge.

#80 sponge has larger pores than #50. I've played both.

H8-80 is more lively, faster. It's a speed oreiented rubber.
H3-50 is a bit denser, you can generate a bit more spin, a bit better control.

Would you recommend the 35 or 37 degree H3-50 for chopping?

Im with SFF_lib here. The 8-80 sponge is crap for chopping over all. I mean it is possible but the room for error is really low. The moment you engage the sponge, the ball goes far. Engaging the 50 sponge is way harder and being more dense the bounce off is way lower until you hit really hard.

The hardness decision depends on many more factors like blade being used, your technique, you playing level ...

Even just for blocking, I suffered more unforced errors using H8-80.

How fast is the H8-80? Would it be similar in speed as Rakza 7? Or Vega X? Or slower than that?

I think I just replied to your comment asking the same thing on my youtube channel :D
8-80 is rather slow. Rakza 7 is around the same speed as FastArc G-1 and 8-80 is around 1.35 times slower according to my subjective calculations.
Overall, 8-80 is not an amazing rubber, even if you hit good top spin it doesn't put much pressure on the opponent, unlike G-1 or T05.

8-80, you can't really do passive shot.
if you just passively block the ball, the ball could sink into the net.
if you just add some spin onto it, it will spin nicely back over the table.

On a passive block, it isn't fast compared to ESN rubbers. But faster than your H3.

i'm a hard sponge user (ESN 50 or higher on BH) and i'm currently using H8-80 38Deg and loving it
With its relatively harder topsheet and sponge compared to ESN rubbers, I would rate it easier to "chop" with, compared to a lot more bouncier ESN rubbers.

of course i agree. In table tennis in general, we try to never be totaly passive.

Which hard sponge ESN rubbers do you normally use and like?
