Who is better ? Wang Liqin, Ma Lin and Wang Hao..

If you ask me this question, I really can't make a decision. Theses 3 guys is my favorite players, the greatest generation ！

Here I made some statistics for them, so amazing that how many titles they took away from 2000-2012 ！

I think what really matters is how they performed on the biggest stage. Personally, I'd give it to Ma Lin for winning the Olympic Gold medal. I bet Wang Hao would trade all three of his Silver Olympic medals for a Gold one in Men's Singles.

61 pro tour titles for Ma Lin? That's heavy. He needs a house only for his medals....

They are all very good and special in their own way. They just didn't complete Grand Slam because they stand in each other way.

Yes very close between them all, it is worth knowing that wang liqin was number one ranked in the world for a long time as well but the other two weren't. All legends in their own right though

I class wang liqin to be number 1

If you look closely a majority of ma lin's pro tour wins are doubles opposed to the higher regarded singles :/

It is quite hard to compare Wang Hao and Wang Liqin. Their age difference is quite big in my opinion

although i like ma lin coming as best, this comparison is not really fair. it should be normalized by their age, the number of tournaments entered, etc.. But its still interesting. Confirms that Ma Lin is unmatched in doubles.

For me - SINGLES are most important..
From tournaments - World championships are the most important..
Yes, maybe olympic games are quite cool too, but.. you just have harder competition on WC than OG..
So there is Wang Liqin best with 3 titles, Wang Hao second with one and Ma Lin with zero..
If I count pro tours, there is also best Wang Liqin with 21 titles, Ma Lin second with 20 titles and Wang Hao third with 13..
From those stats you can clearly see that Ma Lin is more doubles player than singles.. Lets see if he can hold this statement during this interesting Korea Open, where he is paired with a non chinese

In my view Wang Liqin was the most definitive, winning 3 World Champs singles and 21 Pro Tour singles. Also his lengthy time in the #1 position speaks for itself.
Another stat which may warrant consideration is the Chinese national championships, but those results could be harder to find...

Anyway, thank you very much. It's good to see I'm not the only one passionate about TT statistics.

Wang Hao actually has 3 National Championship titles, as he also won in 2009 (the year that is missing from your list). Ma Long was the runner up that year, and I'm not sure about the semifinals.
