Well in my opinion Yan An pretty much showed the way how to beat Xu Xin!
Unfortunately for him, he had not enough consistency to finish him off, making too many errors in the game.
But if you see the tactics, Xu Xin is helpless against it, when Yan An puts it on the table.
Counter topspin into backhand side and the next down the line, Xu Xin is finished, even with his superb footwork, he cant beat that tactics..
Ma Long and Zhang Jike they know this pretty well and unless Xu Xin finds something else out, he wont be able to win in Paris this year..
The way for him is to play more backhand topspins, no other way..

Excellent analysis of how to beat Xu Xin (at least until he gets a better bh) +1

Not hard to analyse a tactic against Xu Xin. It's obvious ;)

But what surprises me is that everyone knows how to play against him but almost no one can beat him (especially the top europeans)

That's why I like Xu Xin so much. World Class with a obvious weakness.

Exactly, thats something I dont really understand either..
It cant be that difficult to put one countertopspin into backhand and second down the line..
Why dont they do it?
Yan An done it many times and got the point almost everytime!
And Xu Xin is so rarely opening his forehant topspin down the line, so..
I just dont understand..

Anyone noticed that Xu Xin changed his Stiga Rosewood blade to Ma Lin Extra Offensive in the final with Yan An?

Actually it is due to it looks easy to to do it than actually to execute it. If you see most of the topspin to topspin. Player seldom do a straight line topspin return, but usually the cross court, because it is more precise.

As for Xu Xin, what coaches and ex-player mention about him before is that once he got something good in his mind, he will put some different creativity in his play, this cause that the opponent feel alittle could not get used to it. But this only happens when he is "on fire" mode.

He start using it in World Team Classic to beat the world, then Ma Long in the Korean Open Final and now Yan An in the Asian Cup. There is a reason for CNT to believe in penholders along with all the shakehanders and prove to be correct. You know which two players hold the best record against non-Chinese in CNT?
