The recent World Table Tennis Championships smashed previous records. 86.6 million Watch 2013 WTTC Finals!

CCTV most watched program so far this year is the two singles finals at the LIEBHERR 2013 World Table Tennis Championships! The Men's Singles Final which featured Zhang Jike and Wang Hao saw a unique visit of 36.6 million people! The Women's Singles Final between LI Xiaoxia and LIU Shiwen was watched by a staggering 50 million Chinese table tennis fans!

These figures make table tennis the in the top four most viewed sports program in China which had a higher audience than NBA, and English Premier League matches in 2013.

Social Media World Table Tennis Championships

Not just the TV figures saw a soar in viewership due to the WTTC, the internet with over 2,272 media articles across radio, print and Internet being published in the host country of France alone.

The ITTF youtube channel received 2.65 million video views and were watched for 10.25 million minutes over the 2 weeks of the championships. The official ITTF Hashtag #ITTFWorlds was used by thousands of twitter users with ITTF's Facebook page amounting to 2.8 million page impressions over the two week event!

TableTennisDaily Smashed Records

TableTennisDaily reached staggering views during the WTTC. I originally thought the London 2012 Olympic figures would never be beat, however this years WTTC smashed them in half! Over the 8 day event TableTennisDaily reached a total of 29,393 unique visitors which amounted to 158,738 page views. Half way through the epic championships I upgraded the server to handle all the incoming traffic and the site's coder did a fantastic job optimizing everything, so you should find the site to load much faster now.
