This video of former World Number 7 Desmond Douglas and England number 3 Hannah Hicks at the latest Westfield Summer Camp.

They are demonstrating the backspin chop against forehand topspin.

Desmond, now 58, shows how to react to any shot with some leaps and racket control as well as power. Is being able to adapt and touch most important against chop?

Adaptation is a must. But a combination of using control loops and power loops on chops will win you the point.

A power loop that dose not land on the table is a poor shot. It's better to play control loops when the ball is low and play power loops when it is high. Playing drop shots is also a good idea.

explained it better than me, but that was essentially what I meant, forgot the drop shot tactic.

But drop shot works so many times or breaks the rhythm of the opponent.
