Before Grand Finals starts on Jan. 9, Chinese team took time on Jan. 8 to shoot a commercial to promote Dubai City, the official sponsor of CNT, on the roof of BurjAl-ArabHotel. They also went to Safa Park to interact with local TT lovers in a non-profit project called "Ping Pong Dubai" to bring TT to local communities. The program is jointly sponsored by UAE Table Tennis Association, Dubai Sports Council, and Falcon and Associates. That explains the falcon in the picture:p

As the most successful table tennis team in the world, CNT now regards promotion of table tennis as one of its responsibilities to the sport.

Looking at these photos by CNT, really makes me wonder how do you get CNT haters - the ones that say Chinese domination is killing the sport.
I don't want to lead the discussion to those haters but rather the positive of what CNT has been doing over the years to help promote the sport - they are doing tons more than any other country for sure!

The way superleague was done this year - reducing overall match time to include some "fun" in between; penhold vs shakehand; attack vs defense; charity events in China; sichuan earthquak involvement; Chinese New Year event; mini table competition; more engagement with media - TV shows; I can't think of any more, but i'm sure this list is huge.

And now this in Dubai

Thumbs up to CNT and the organisers!!

Imagine if CNT doesn't do any promotion - how would TT be then?

thats true! :) he defended matchpoints in the 6th (9-10) and was up 6-4 and 7-5 but then went back to 7-9

then gao returned shionos service into the net
and another one too high so shiono could score with a big forhand (now 9-9)
then a nice rally so 10-9
and then gao failed his first ball attack

dima lost to kim 9-11 in the 7th

Men's Singles quarter-final matches:

Ma Long vs Zhang Jike ------ (13:00')
kim Minseok vs Masato Shiono (13:30')
Xu Xin vs Abdel-Kader Salifou (14:00')
Wang Hao vs Fan Zhendong - (14:30')

Note: Quarter-final will be on 11/1/2014 and all times are in local time (+4 GMT)

I think Zhang Jike, Masato Shiono, Xu Xin and Fan Zhendong will get into semi-final.

Looking at Ma Long vs. Chan, it seemed as if Ma Long was out of his element. When he is pacing around the court and getting irritated, I get the same feeling as as when he lost to Koki Niwa in the Olympic qualifier. ZJK looked solid and moved freely, not like when he was playing injured in the Chinese super league. But we all remember when Ma Long looked down and out in the 2012 World Cup and lost against CCY in the group stage. He came back with a vengeance. I'm hoping for a similar turnaround.
