I was just wondering with the new ball allegedly favouring hitting and not taking kindly to ridiculous amounts of spin, is there a chance we could see people move to short pips or just cheaper, not so spinny rubber. I've been toying with the idea of using short pimps for a couple of years and might just take the plunge with the new ball coming in. Is the new ball THAT different ????

There is some talk that SP may come back alive and yes manufactories are also preparing new rubbers, and even blades to fit the style of the new ball.
It is the same just as how the 38mm ball become 40mm, and how speed glue got banned.
This is nothing new basically.

I will instead be seeking ways to adapt how I play to be more effectively.

Since I use a LOT of heavy spin, the initial reviews of the ball is very discouraging. Still, I love TT, I love battle, and will still do my best in sanctioned tourneys to rip off the head of my enemy and defecate down what is left of hiz neck.
