The Second Youth Olympic Games will commence tomorrow on the 17th August and will be held in city of Nanjing. China's Fan Zhendong leads the Men's Singles Seedings.

Table tennis enjoys a prestigious status as China's national sports, and this is once again evidenced by its strong presence at Youth Olympic Games opening ceremony. Wang Liqin was one of eight flag holders, Zhang Jike was one of six torchbearers, and Fan Zhendong took the Youth Olympic Oath on behalf of athletes.

No, they are playing with celluloid balls.

Fan Zhendong and Liu Gaoyang have both lost a set to way less ranked players.
In her match against Mukherjee Sutirtha from India, Liu Gaoyang was so so nervous. Fortunately for her, the umpire give her 4 or 5 points because of illegal serves of Mukherjee Sutirtha.

FZD about losing the 1st set against Brian Afanador:
"In the first game, I was nervous. I wanted my performance to be perfect and I made some mistakes, as a result, I lost the first set."

I dunno, to me they seem the DHS plastic balls but I could be wrong.

I've just tweeted the ITTF on Twitter. The celluloid ball is in use as the old one was used during qualification.

Saw the match of Hung Ka Tak? He was up 5-2 then down 5-8 then won the deciding set 11-8!

Honestly, unless Fan Zhendong plays less than 70%, no one else has a chance. I rate him only a touch lower than Xu Xin, who is only 0.5% weaker than Ma Long and Zhang Jike.
