Okay we have groups already! :)

Group 1: Li Jiao (NED), Vačenovská Iveta (CZE), Zhang Mo (CAN)
Group 2: Pota Georgina (HUN), Cheng I-Ching (TPE), Lay Jian Fang (AUS)
Group 3: Wu Jiaduo (GER), Jiang Huajun (HKG), Kumahara Caroline (BRA)

So far the only surprise of the tournament is Vačenovská beating Li Jiao.. :)
Li Jiao had trouble with Zhang Mo from Canada aswell, winning 4:3, 11:8 the deciding game..
If Vačenovská can beat Zhang Mo, she will be the first Czech winner of the group in World cup for some time! :)
This is as far as I know her first appearance in World Cup and she can already win the group!

Victoria Pavlovich - 2nd at Europe cup - After her withdrawal japanese Kasumi Ishikawa took her place in the squad

Not sure how Asia can replace a European player

Imo Kasumi should come in in place of Sayaka, and Samara in place of Pavlovich

Ai Fukuhara as wild card

First game not going into straight games, still Jiang Huajun beat Seo Hyowon from Korea 4:1..
So far only Li Xiaoxia held his upper hand and won against qualificant..
Interesting!
Hu Melek surprised Elizabeta, Jiang Huajun surprised Seo Hyowon..
And now, awaited match - Iveta Vačenovská against Liu Jia from the host nation :)
Who will win?
I will cheer for Iveta ;)

I think it sure is having an effect. It is such a change for players it looks like. Some players may have practised with the new ball more than others to.

Yeah, surely. But, can we say that some playing styles work better with the new ball ? Or, when all the players will fully adapt, the "logic" will be respected ?
Personally, I find that, maybe, "flat-hitters" and control players seem to play pretty well with the new ball so far but maybe it's just an impression, it's too soon to say.
We will see that in a near future anyway. :)

Yeah playing styles could have an advantage. I think because attackers cannot generate as much spin, its surely logical for blockers to take advantage of this. Yes lets see over time, I am looking forward to the Men's World Cup for this very reason.
