Very young Japanese new talent

This kid has not yet 12 years (Jun 2003) !!
In the Quarterfinals of Safir Open 2015 he beat Omar Assar (WR 43)
In the Semifinal he beat Jens Lundqvist (WR 71)

Wow, this kid is insane! I am impressed by how much he pushes the ball long, and counters so well. I think when he plays short Jens is to strong so he played long often. I cannot recall a 12 year old from China defeating 2 players in the top 100 of the world. Am I right here?

Great kid! Wonderful performance for the 11 year old. Wish him growth, development and luck to give a challenge to the Chinese in battles for big titles in the future. Real intrigue - that's what is needed in TT over the last years.

Yup, we would all wonder, but like the Amazing Spiderman sez... With such Power comes Awesome responsibility.

If he has the power to play at distance and threaten other players, then he might have times where he will have to decide to stay at table and pressure with quickness and placement or turn up the volume on Villiage People "Macho Man" single and go at it.

Either way, brace Urselves & hold on for one heck of a ride. You don't see stuff like this often.

Crazy.. Just crazy. If this is the level you push a 12 year old kid to play, my guess he does not do/know much else in life... I hope im wrong, that it's just a matter of extreme talent and a healthy amount of guidance/practice.

It is that or 4-5 after-after school study programs and do homework until 0200... athletes got is made even if their training is brutal, the academic students are wore out even more.

That is just completely insane! 11-year-old beating WR top-80 players.. incredible. Table tennis must be one of if not the only sport in world that makes this possible. Awesome to see a big competitor for China in the future!

Agree, that Waldner / Samsonov style, except He does backhand loop as opposed to block.

His touch and short play is superb.

Really and i mean really hope that they will develop leg strenght for this kid as that is the area where most of the Japaneese players fail compared to Chineese IMHO and then just hope he stays positive about table tennis
