Hirano did it! coming back from 0-2, she beat Ding Ning 3-2, last set being 12-10!
Great play! If you guys have a chance, look at the pure joy on her face!
On a side note, it is very interesting to compare these 2 players. As I notice more frustration and negative expression from Ding Ning (and sometimes no apologies when netting bals) while Hirano show a more positive facial expression and more free to express happiness when taking sets.

Chinese players seem stressed. Birthday power was also on Mirano's side :D Seriously I think china really wanted to dominate this event and not to lose to any foreign player. Too much pressure from their side while everyone else wants to take their heads and fight from heart.

Seismic events rocking the asian meet. Ma Long then Ding Ning shown the door !!! Koreans and Japs are stepping it up.

MA Long just proved he is human. JEONG Sangeun was ranked only #102 (but was a Junior World Champion in 2007). I feel it was more about MA Long not being at his level though.

In the Mixed Doubles, a spirited Japanese pair edged the #1 seeded Chinese pair (FANG Bo/ WANG Manyu) and gave a good fight to the #2 Chinese pair in the finals. They lost but the Chinese didn't seem invincible.

but HIRANO won with very high class this epic match against DING Ning and outclassed her in the end in front of the Chinese crowd.

In sports the mental aspect is very important and if the Chinese opponents take some courage of recent events, fear will start to change sides, and we will see more and more defeats for the Chinese.

After all, the WTTC might be much more open than one thinks. Its happening far from the Chinese home and that will provide extra pressure to the Chinese.

yes everything is possible. Ding ning and Ma long won almost everything they could in their carrier so I think they are mentally tired and do not have so much motivation as youngsters. FZD now is definitely impossible to beat by any foreigner, he is eager to win big title, he is already 20 years old and wait for the first big success. But also ZJK seems to get in form, but how long it will last, who knows...

Woojin Jang - Xin Xu 1:3
Koki Niwa - Ning Gao 3:1
Maharu Yoshimura - Heng-Wei Yang 3:1
Sangeun Jeong - Tianyi Jiang 3:2

Those are on the website. It is the FZD vs LSS, LGY vs WCT, and Achanta vs Lam results that are missing. I watched ZJK beat Oshima even though the result is missing as well.
