Kihara's coach wasted the TO at 11:10 and hence the game. But anyway, very intense game 1. Kihara had 2 game points but Ito saved them.

Kihara came up short after saving 3 game points. Ito has the upper hand when push comes to shove.

3 back-to-back titles in the bag?

Not so fast! Ito blew her lead and wasted the TO.

Youngest-ever to defend 3 titles, XD, WD and WS.

If Ito plays at this level consistently, CNT will no doubt be in trouble for years to come.

Only 3 players have ever won 3 titles and Ito is the 1st one to do it twice in a row.

WHY, BUTTERFLY ?

To my great surprise, Butterfly refused to supply their novelty rubber DIGNICS to any domestic players but to Joon Mizutaney exlusively.. Cant see any decent reason behind the refusal.
BTF does appear UNDULY FONT with Mizutaney, why so?

With that, Mizutani is going to retire from JNT after Tokyo 2020. What a way to end.

Hi,

I recall the look on Mizutani's face after he lost in this tournament last year. That told me he would re-dedicate, as is his history. This understanding comes as from discussions with Mizutani's former coach who was a senior coach at the Werner Schlager Academy. He indicated to me the specialness of Mizutani, including a respect for the hard training, even to the cost of reducing formal competitions.

A great champion!

And in fact Mizutani played extremely dominant this tournament, I wonder if the new rubber was a key factor for this performance. I believe only Harimoto could have challenged him but he did lose to Oshima. By the way according to Butterfly some other players including Lin Gaoyuan are using Dignics 05 already.
