Ai Fukuhara who has recently recovered from having elbow surgery has received her second National title after taking the title of Champion at the 2013 Japan National Championships. With the defending champion Maharu Yoshimura being defeated in the early rounds it was Kasumi Ishikawa who she must face in the final.
Fukuhara didn’t manage to get off to a good start as Ishikawa took the first set 11-6 however it wasn’t long before Fukuhara levelled it at 11-7. Ishikawa didn’t give up as she put herself in front winning the third set 11-4; Fukuhara soon began to take control of the match as she levelled it yet again at 11-9 before taking the final two sets 11-8, 11-3 and the greatly deserved title of champion.
