Did Michael have specific pieces of advice or insightful approaches that really helped him in elevating his game to the next level?

And a follow up: Is there any big-picture advice he would give to intermediate/advanced players to focus on for improving their overall game?

We have heard the famous story about your aggressive serve return techniques where you would take the ball earlier than your coaches would like you too .... but you are also famous as the person who lobbed down Chen Qi from 3 sets down in 2009 World Cup .. these are very distinctive skill sets .. how are you adjusting in terms of strategy to the new ball and the new style of play where pretty much everybody is trying to take the ball as early as possible and the overall spin has considerably reduced and in general the game has has become biased towards speed than spin

Do you have to start at a young age eg 6 to make it to the pro level as a table tennis player? Have you known any advanced players who started at their teens and made it?

When serving, do you notice or judge how is the opponent positioning himself or anticipating his move?

Also, what advice will you give to intermediate players who have not taken any coaching?

Jonathan Groth, WR18 as of 10/2018, has been making great strides in the singles since the Rio Olympics. In your opinion, what does he need to crack into the top 10?
