Hey community,
I know there are alot of players here that use Hurricane 3 Neo, including me. And there are countless threads on how to use chinese rubbers, the different versions and hardness, how to boost them and so on.
I dont know if this has been posted before, but I found an interesting video in which Korean top players were asked about why they use Hurricane 3 Neo. Unfortunately, there are no english subtitles available, but I still think its worthwhile sharing.
I can translate what a few players stated:
Yang Ha-Eun (0:32) : Advantage of Serve-Receive, H3N has a special feeling of grabbing the ball which makes it difficult for the opponent but comfortable for her. And, if she faces a ball that has heavy topspin for example, the ball tends to fly away with something like Tenergy, but chinese rubbers have a higher chance to "win out" against the incoming spin
Jang Woo-Jin (1:26) : For him as a forehand-oriented players, Hurricane 3 Neo fits better because it is easier to impart spin into the ball in comparison to something like Tenergy. Thats why chinese rubbers fit him more
Joo Sae-Hyuk (1:47) : When there is an opportunity to attack a ball with a strong drive, with some rubber the ball ends up in the net. For some athletes, they get nervous / they lose confidence. When its 9:9 and then another opportunity to attack the ball arises, players get stiff because of the prior mistake that happened. But, if they use a chinese rubber, the ball always lands on the table just in the exact way that the player impacted the ball. Since that gives them confidence, they use Hurricane 3 Neo
Shin Yu-Bin (2:28) : Before she used chinese rubbers she felt a bit insecure about her forehand because it was not safe and there were alot of times she missed the table. After she changed to chinese rubbers, the feeling of impact is much stronger so she gained alot of confidence on her forehand side
