FWIW, I think LSD has a good expression on his face for getting silver in MS:

... in contrast to the "when will this torture be over with" look of the Chinese women

It’s difficult to keep mentally healthy in his team.

It’s difficult to keep mentally healthy in his team.

The body language tells.

and that is the reason why when I asked about while Coach Qin retired as coach so early,
the reply was "to save his own life"

some people on TTD thought his life was in danger and I was talking nonsense
Coach Qin knew that the CNT coaching role is going to end up mentally unhealthy.
as I was told, you can't do right any more, you can only do wrong.

Sayaka Hirano attributes Japan's current trajectory in part to the Paris selection system, which favours players with absolute ability (Miwa) over those who rely on tricky serves and receives (Ito). They also mention how Miwa has shown that it's possible to beat China at their own game (rallying).

Sounds harsh but the fact that Liu Weishan is the latest Chinese national champion in the absence of the core players (CXT be like if I wasn't summoned to play the stupid ATTC I could have won) really shows the lack of depth within the women team right now. Whilst this is a projection many have predicted a couple of years ago but this really exemplifies that theory. Kudos to LWS for seizing the chance to step up but...

It can't be unseen now...

I mean, when the athlete has already received the message from his or her body alarm system, CNT’s support team should have the ability to identify it, and CTTA should stop pushing him or her to attend any tournaments before recovery.

Regarding

CNT players play very little events

I’m pretty sure you know why, the year of OG, they have the regular confined training season.
they play less events but always go to SF at least while others get knocked out before. they play many more matches

Which only means 1 extra day of staying there

Still, crazy workload, hence I call 15 as fair and no more per year (ps, as players all have domestic responsibilities too)

Yeah I gotta agree with that sentiment. I understand it sends a message to their fans and supporters that they are not happy with their performance and consider anything but gold a failure.

But I feel like some people can take that gesture as disrespect. There's a lot of players that would be very pleased to far in the tournament and medal. Treating silver and bronze medals like rubbish seems to diminish the efforts of other competitors.

Also, if you are invited to the organization's tournament, there's a level of decorum that should be expected. The whole point of the medal ceremony is to give weight to achievements and it's just gauche to spoil the illusion by making it about yourself.
yep
and this is where sports comes first, not gold medals.
to respect the sport, to respect your result and to respect the ceremony.
you can do what you want when you home

I also am against players going up to the ceremony not wearing closed shoes. You see it often in national events, especially with juniors. ie wearing slippers
need to respect the ceremony process and that includes CNT

The Harimoto siblings were already rock stars(especially Miwa) before this tournament. Their legend only grows.

From 1:01, another camera angle shows even more dramatic scene, girls screaming and smell their hands after had contact with Harimoto, and a guy touched his chest.😅

I guess what she's saying is that to beat the Chinese, you have to be Chinese. Although perhaps Miwa took that interpretation a little too literally 🤭

Are there any news why Oh Junsung didn’t go up to the podium and claim his bronze medal? He got the ranking points so he wasn’t disqualified
It is said he had to catch a flight.

PRK will host the Asian Junior Championships 2026 and ATTC 2028.

한국 남자 탁구, 아시아선수권에서 금1·동3으로 마감
https://sporki.com/general/news/1718551
Meanwhile, at the Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU) General Assembly held in conjunction with this competition, Kim Taek-soo, Executive Vice President of the Korea Table Tennis Association, and Ahn Kook-hee, Executive Director, were elected as ATTU Vice President and Director, respectively. In addition, North Korea was confirmed as the host country for the 2026 Asian Junior Championships and the 2028 Asian Championships. It has been 49 years since the 1979 Pyongyang World Championships that a major table tennis tournament has been held in North Korea.

Not likely the last time we were updated. Only XTWC and WTTTC for now.

Weird

+175 points for Miwa (Team Champ with 4/9 wins + Singles runner up)
+85 for Ito (Team Champ with 3/9 wins + Singles 3rd)
+0 for Hirano (Team Champ with 2/9 wins + Singles R32)

Kim Kum Yong gets +412 for Singles champ + team 5th, 3/7 wins
I'm assuming the three JNT girls have deductions of course, but still weird.

Miwa got teams point 139 points (56%), but its too little to be factored in her top 8 points (ps. her continental point is 350 points)
Ito got 56 points (22%) and also not factored into top 8
Hirano got 56 points (22%) and also not factored into top 8, she did get 0 points for R32 finish in ATTC.

Kim Kum Yong got 17 team points (38% in QF), but since her 500 points for winning ATTC is factored in, the 17 points is equal to zero

there we have it, 4 players here, team points does not help them because you are only allowed 1 continental point.
and because teams are all divided among the team, if you really do bad in singles, then maybe, the team point could mean something.
SYS got 75 team points.... only beating the 42 team points at XD world cup. and behind the 333 points from WTTTC and still lower than her lowest singles point of 350 at QF in Singapore Smash.

So you tell me, where is the reward for teams participation for the elites, other than national pride (which can't put food on the table).
You need prize money or point reward, and teams has neither. So until it means something, players will preserve energy for what matters more.

For the 14 year old wonder, it gave him 31 points (70% of QF) and push him to 91 points at WR177. He got 0 points for R64 at ATTC

Absolute travesty for Ayhika, Miwa, and Kim Kum Yong to not be rewarded for beating SYS, and for Hirano to not be rewarded for winning a match in two major team finals. I wonder if that was addressed in Dan's podcast with the WTT CEO, which I did not bother to watch because I feel that it'll just be another case of higher ups explaining away bad decisions.

i only watch a little bit, didn't even get to the camera angles.

I think teams points need to be re-evaluated or maybe a specific teams ranking point spot, so it isn't together with singles.

I already know XD world cup, some players are not interested to go
