Hello, I play/train 4 times a week in a club. I know people have different learning curves, but just for curiosity, how long it takes (average) to reach intermediate level, playing for about 8-10 hours per week?

And what is considered a intermediate level? I started to play 4 months ago, and I don't think I am near close people who play for about 1 year.

Hi Hideki welcome to the Forum, it can take anywhere up to 5 years to reach intermediate standard as there is so much to learn. Remember Table Tennis is a marathon not a Sprint!!! Get some coaching if you can, don't be hard on yourself while you are learning, try to stay calm as Table Tennis is so much easier if you stay relaxed!! The main thing is to enjoy yourself and praise your achievements, I've been playing Table Tennis for over 20 years and I'm a intermediate player trying to be an advanced player, I'm enjoying the challenge and love Table Tennis as it's so rewarding when you finally see your hard work pay off!!!

It all depends on HOW you train. Staying away from the casuals and the just for fun players to follow yourself a training schedule and you will move past all of those players in no time at all. If you add coaching to it then 🚀🚀🚀
Timeline - I would say perhaps a year. But don't sweat that.
Remember, you love the game so just enjoy the journey and don't despair or find frustration in your rate of progress. As long as you have a structural plan for training and are enjoying yourself there should only be fun. Frustration at progress is for those who mess about every wk and then wonder why they're not improving as fast as other players.
Check out here, I found this and many other of his posts very useful. https://racketinsight.com/table-tennis/plan-effective-training-sessions/
Cheers

If I remember correctly reading the old old old forum (can't remember which one, and probably defunct now), I read that there was one member who went from complete noob to USATT 2000 in 2 years (or one year???) which surprised many forum members. IIRC, he used to play other racket sport competitively and then switched to table tennis and he learned very fast (of course he was dedicated as well).
