You don't have change blades to play the style you envision. Sounds like you are the perfect candidate to join the dark side by using long pimples OX on the backhand to block and confuse your opponents until they pop one up, at which point you attack.

Hi, I currently have hurricane wang Chuqin but I am planning to sell it to get a butterfly blade as I have recently noticed that my play style is not like Chinese. My play style is more passive where I look for opportunities to attack like counters. What blades do you recommend?
In all seriousness though, Victas Koki Niwa is very good for counterspin and counterattack. I don't know if Butterfly makes a blade specifically for countering but Viscaria probably does a decent job. Besides that, I don't think we know enough about your playing style to really suggest anything. If you find a pro whose style you like, you can try buying their blade, as it's likely that their blade is specially made to suit their playing style. Lin Gaoyuan comes to mind for counterattacking style -- he used to use Viscaria and now he has his own custom blade.

DHS wang chuqin is inner carbon?

If so, you can try either Ovtcharov innercarbon ALC or Franziska innercarbon ZLC. Ovtcharov is slightly thicker and slightly faster.

There are 3 blades that are actually the same, but because of the weigh variations different people have different impressions:

BTY Innerforce ZLC
BTY Franziska ZLC
BTY Apolonia ZLC
I

I was thinking of getting the franziska Innerforce zlc but I’m not sure about how I performs

However, if your DHS is inner-carbon with ALC, then BTY Innerforce ALC and BTY Harimoto will be more similar (construction-wise, not feeling-wise), because both have ALC instead of ZLC.

How about viscaria?

I like the way Patrick franziska plays, aggressive with blocking and counters, but I’m seeing mixed reviews for his blade

How does the franziska compare to viscaria?

First I don't have BTY Franziska but I have BTY Apolonia.
Considering Apolonia has the same structure as Franziska, then I would say that BTY Apolonia (~= Franziska) is BTY Korbel on steroid. I am very familiar with BTY Korbel as I have played with it for quite some time. Transition to Apolonia did not take long adjustment. Short game is good as it is controllable, but the ZLC kicks in when you swing harder.

I have Viscaria, and for me it is a good blade as well, but it took me longer time to adjust. First, the feeling is much different, it is very muted (coming from BTY Korbel which has vibration). I miss the feeling initially, but after few sessions, I can adjust quite all right. But since I am an allwood lover, I ditched Viscaria, because I miss the allwood feeling.

However, once I tried my friend's old Viscaria (still has butterfly black tag), and it is very different than my Viscaria. It is more soulful (can't find the correct term, but I mean that it has more feeling compared to the current one I have).

If you are accustomed to inner carbon blade, then I think you can adjust easier with Apolonia compared to Viscaria. This is my opinion. But Viscaria is a good blade, and lots of my friends use it.

Franziska Innerforce ZLC is a good blade and it is my main blade now. I really wanted to like Octcharov inner force ALC because, well, it is cheaper.

With Franziska Innerforce ZLC, it has been a very interesting experiment. My old blade was outer carbon with no vibration whatsoever which I liked. Franziska Innerforce ZLC has some vibration which I eventually got used to. Took some time to get used to it.

Also with Franziska, when I first started experimenting with it, it seems to play really slow on a passive shot (like an all wood blade) but can be very fast once you put power into it (like a carbon blade). So initially for the first 2-3 hours with the blade, I kept on dumping my pushes into the net but I adapted.

I like Franziska because it is easier to block heavy heavy topspin shots coming at you with innercarbon compositions. With outer carbon, you have to really relax and get the angle right. With Franziska, I can cheat a little bit and be out of position and still get the ball onto the other side of the table.

I also assembled a few inner carbon blades including DHS Fang Bo (the first version) and Nittaku Septear Feel inner. The latter two just feel slower than outer ALC. Nothing stood out really.

There is something about Butterfly inner carbon blades. I think SDC has speculated that it might have to do with the glue that Butterfly uses because it is hard for SDC (the blade maker) to duplicate inner carbon series from Butterfly exactly.

Thanks for your input! So I think I am leaning towards the franziska Innerforce zlc for my next blade. How does this blade play on the offensive side? Especially when counter looping/smashing, flicking and looping backspins and topspin.
