Hi everyone, I currently use tibhar stratus carbon with tenergy 05 on both sides and am looking for an upgrade in blade as i feel less powerful in loop drives against backspin and the set up is a bit head heavy and also the sweet spot seems to be lesser than some other blades i have tried. I need a set up to increase speed and power in my loop drives

Any Butterfly ALC or ZLC blade will give you what you are looking for. Sorry but the blades are more expensive.

I recently played with Samsonov Stratus Carbon, and I liked it alot. I also have and Viscaria and they play pretty similair but the Viscaria has noticable more power. So this would be the best upgrade for you in terms of power.

However, the Viscaria is just as head heavy as the Stratus Carbon, maybe even more.

Only the thing is that you said you feel like driving through backspin doesnt have enough power. I dont think Viscaria (or any other blade) will totally fix this for you. Because your setup is already pretty fast.

I think the issue is somewhere in your technique (but I cant judge because I havent seen you play). Try to focus more on your weight transfer against backspin, I think that will help you.

But if you really want an reliable upgrade I think you should go for the Timo Boll ALC. Its designed to be less head heavy with the Tenergy rubbers.

So anyway I hope my experience helped you a little and goodluck ;)

I agree with Hamasaki... Could be your technique.. Though lack in power with SSCB. I'd suggest the Tibhar Drinkhall Power Spin Carbon, DHS Fang Bo ALC, DHS HL5 or DHS W968
i tried my friends blade which was a t5000 blade and could generate lots of power with the same stroke but overall i found it too stiff for my liking so i dont think technique's the problem and thanks for the suggestions!!

thank you for the suggestion i might give it a try. My game is mainly based on strong third and fifth ball attacks and i like to end rallies quicker so i was looking for a more explosive set up to suit my game style

Your approach in my experience is completely wrong. If you want to play more third ball attacks, you need a slower blade/ spinnier rubber so you can power through backspin confidently, not a faster blade/faster rubber which will often lead to you overshooting the table. As a general rule, the slower the blade, the more you want to generate your own speed and spin, the faster the blade, the more you want to borrow speed and spin.

i have been playing for over six years now and have enough control over the ball so i thought i needed the upgrade. Slower blades tend to have more dwell than i desire and tenergy 05 has its own dwell time so it performs well with stiffer blades. i have tried tenergy 05 in softer blades (all wood) and i did not like the way it played, it was spinny but not fast enough for drives and finishing shots. you might know that 05 is not that good for flat hits, stiff blades help in this department by decreasing dwell in my opinion.

I think those things are all technical choices - you can open harder with a slower blade and still get the ball to dip. If you don't like the feeling, I think a harder top play is the way to go, not necessarily a faster blade. That said, you do seem to know what you want, but I don't think it will improve your third ball consistency except against bad returns.

What kind of blade do you like? When it comes to carbon blade, most people point to viscaria. Lots of people like viscaria and alike. I like it, but I like my Mizutani ZLC better.

Innerforce has been gaining more traction these days as more pro players are using it, so it's also an option.
